About This File

Rumor has it that there has been an infestation reported near your home in the canyons, and the abandoned temple that was long ago converted to a UAC outpost, and then evacuated for unknown reasons. Your job is to find out if the rumors are true, and if so, flee the base by reaching the exit, and getting all your marine buddies to stop it up completely. Good Luck Marine, you'll need it!

IMPORTANT: This is for Doom 2, map 1. Galica serves up something similar to his "Requiem" map. Made mostly in the cavern and marble styles, it has several progression quirks: hidden switches rising from the ground, one-time-only doors and teleports, etc., which might make you miss goodies or get stuck if you don't do things as "intended". You're never short on ammo, so the gameplay's rather easy, aside from one or two traps. All in all, not bad, but the style of play just isn't to my taste. --3/5

A decent, dull level, with a nice sewerage tunnel and a slightly OTT bit with a ton of switches and a waterfall. I broke the bit with the yellow key by flicking a switch through a wall, and so I couldn't finish the level. It's tolerable fun, although very underdetailed and crude, espec. for as late as 1997. If I type "1997" into Google I discover that "The term "weblog" was coined by Jorn Barger in December 1997". What a useless, bland, shit year 1997 was. I can't tell it apart from 1996 or 1998.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
