Description : This is an attempt to "do" some of the scenes/events from the conclusion of "The Lord
of the Rings". There's a Mount Doom, a Crack of Doom, and a concluding scenario that revises ever so
slightly the ending supplied by Tolkien. Let's just say that Sam Gamgee has a change of heart.

Known Bugs : There's a HOM visible when you look at the mountain from a distance. I've tried
reducing sectors and deleting unneeded sidedefs and/or textures, but nothing seems to work. If anyone
has a suggestion please let me know. The "delayed" teleporters are intentional; I just like them that way
.
The Story
Slam Ganges awoke in his bed and looked out the window.
"Rivendell...", he muttered, "I'm still only in Rivendell". Quickly he reviewed the events of the
previous months--the quest into Mordor, the peril of the Ring, and his last memory: Frodo standing on the
brink of the Crack of Doom and claiming the Ring for his own. After that something had come at him from
behind and he had lost consciousness. In a couple of days he had awoken to a generally depressed
council of elves, men, dwarves, and the orcs admitted under Elrond's recent exchange program. For two
weeks now he had been maundering around the woods, dejectedly shooting anything that moved and in
the evening working on his paper tole diorama of Gandalf's fall in Moria. He knew, though, that he was only
putting off the inevitable: sooner or later he would have to go back to Mordor, to Mount Doom, under the
shadow of Barad Dur, and finish the job he had started. Or, at least, he would have to figure out what had
happened and then do whatever was necessary.
Depressed and groggy, he began doing the one thing that gave him peace: polishing the twin
barrels of his sawed-off shotgun. After a couple of minutes there was a sudden knock at the door.
"Who's that?", he yelled sharply, instinctively slamming two rounds--single-handed--into the
shotgun and throwing his pistol, other shotgun, rocket launcher, pulse cannon and BFG9000 over his
shoulder.
"Uh....sir?", came a cracking adolescent voice, "it's only me, the errand boy sent by the grocery
clerks to collect the--". His last words were lost as Slam blasted gaping, smoking holes in the door. Well,
now was as good a time as any to set out.
He sang merrily to himself as he climbed out the window: "So I'm packing my bags for the Mis-ty
Moun-tains...", he chortled. Once outside he turned east toward Mordor, and Mount Doom.
He assessed his situation quickly. First he would have to find his way through Schlob's lair--and
battle the giant spider in complete darkness, maybe. The exit from her evil abode would likely lead directly
to the ruined plain of Gorgoroth, on which stands Mount Doom. He would then have to find his way into the
mountain, or, failing that, take the ancient road laid by Sauron back to--wherever it went. To Barad Dur
itself, maybe. From there he was sure he would be able to find the secret entrance to Mount Doom. Once
on the mountain he would have to climb to the top. If he survived that harrowing and danger-fraught
passage he would have to find a way into the mountain's roasting volcanic heart in order to reach the Crack
of Doom. That would probably smart a little. If he survived that long he was sure he would have the
courage, brains, and observational skills to figure out and do whatever had to be done--he hoped.

By entropy122 · PostedWhat the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?
