John Carmack, you definitely changed the life of many people with this code and its release!!! It's more than legendary, and I don't understand that it's not rated 5/5 - Jive

Just look at Skulltag and realize how it wouldn't exist without this code. Look at great technological improvements like Doomsday and GZDoom. The source is something that should never be neglected from it's fan database. It's what keeps games alive for years and years to come.

Wow... The state of the Doom playerbase and modding community is something that I think would most likely have fulfilled Carmack's dream of what he wanted people do with the code. Looking at his list, I believe every single thing there has been added. Truly a masterpiece, and congratulations to the entire community and to the ID team for this.

Anyone who voted this less than five stars should consider uninstalling anything Doom related from their PC. 5/5 from me.

Gave birth to sourceports and the ability to take Doom editing to a whole new level. Also gives a better understanding of how the Doom engine works. Legendary, thanks Carmack. 5/5 -r_rr

This code will live on forever, until all the games in the world use ID TECH engines. Without this code, we will NEVER enjoy ZDooM and it's children. If you don't vote 5/5 for this, you must have not played Doom in any source port yet. Get Skulltag. -fdigl

No doubt, this release was a giant stepping stone in game history. We can't imagine what we would do without it. In the unlikely case you didn't already know them, check out all the amazing source ports which arised from this! Otherwise you will be immediately telefragged!

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
