Maybe I'm not on the mood, maybe it's too hard to me, maybe I don't know.

I won't say this is crap because this isn't at all, map aren't that ugly considering this is from 98, plus the layout is easy, but... Well, I just want to talk about the gameplay : there is an obvious lack of armor for me, especially when you have to fight hitscanners. I ran into MAP03, died not even because of the archvile or the cyberdemon, but because of shotgunners ; then I stopped because of the frustration. :/

3/5 (and not less nor more because I did not played the rest) because if only there were armor, the maps would be nicely playable to me and would deserve a good 4/5.

A charming, late 90's map full of Doomcute and the like. More of a novelty; If you're looking for engaging gameplay, then you should probably look elsewhere. MAP01 has an inexplicable Romero head, and other non-sequiturs are present in these maps. That said, the charm this file exudes is too great for me to resist.

The 'Novelties' included in the .zip are what they say: novelties. To judge these analytically would rob them of the 'fun factor' which is present throughout.

Useful tip for Pistol-starters: In MAP02, you can get an early SSG if you just bump into the window multiple times, in a back-and-forth fashion.

This wad is full of fun and charm, although not focused on serious gameplay, and if you are a fan of those things, you should consider this wad.

Wonderful. They don't make 'em like this any more.

Old episode that takes the realism angle. Unlike a lot of realistic-type levels though, this one has enough cheese and fun moments to pull it through. Novelty.wad is a bizarre collection of mini-challenges, some of which don't have an exit.

I like this one, some good ideas here. Bit too many powerups though, would've benefitted from using the multiplayer-only flag.

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
