About This File

Insertion is a DOOM2 PWAD. Recommeded Version of Doom2: 1.9. This PWAD *WILL* work with Evilution and The Plutonia Experiment from FINAL DOOM

Still as good as I remember. Very creative layouts, particularly toward the end. And David Shaw music is always welcome of course.

that's a pretty dumbass comment to make about someone so prominent in the community.

This is a good wad. It's a shame that some people put such idiotic comments in the review window.

Many levels have a lot of predictable symmetry, they tend to play rather blandly except for some traps that can be nasty (like being teleported between two chaingun guys you can't see, one to each side right next to you), so the "flow" is not balanced properly. Their authors may be involved, but it's beneath Requiem and the MMs in quality. [3/5] ~Chain Mail (08/2011)

Insertion is like a forgotten follow-up to Requiem and Memento Mori 2. While it doesn't have the textures and effects, it still has the amazing gameplay that made those wads great. This should've been in the Top 100 list, maybe in place of Earth (which was from '97 anyway) 4.5/5

^Agree, it's a top ten 1998 release for sure. Much better than Earth for gameplay/design purposes. The name here is wrong though...because the text file's in slightly the wrong format. But it doesn't hurt the actual wad.

Created by mappers/musicians involved in MM2/Requiem. Take Requiem, forget about Adel and Iikka maps, you'll get Insertion - a solid WAD with medium difficulty, old school feel (those rising sectors, slow lifts, ledges, medium-to-low detail etc.) Highly recommended for maps 5-7 alone (by Thomas Evans). 4/5 stars, vdgg

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
