About This File

This is sorta a BETA version of Invasion II, the next version will be called Invasion 98 (for TeamTNT's BOOM engine). And I will make a full attempt to kill ALL the bugs. Which should't be that hard, anyway.

There are many really boring, boring maps early on... Also, a "motif": 5 doors, 4 of them cannot be opened, you go through the only openable door A, press switch that opens door B, go through door B, press switch, ... this is repetitive when there are no memorable fights or anything fancy to look at. Also, there are HOMs and instances of two monsters at the same spot = stuck.

Now, the positives.

MAP08 = funky textures. MAP12, fantastic non-linear (finally!) adventure. MAP19, somewhat modified award-winning Polygon Base (there's an arch-vile and the monster count is slightly up, but I don't know why is the map recycled like that; anyway, it's very good), MAP20, short and sweet and good-looking and MAP25: for me it is like a proto- Suspended in Dusk! Not very challenging, slow gameplay, but the layout of this grey base rocks. I was so lost, and I enjoyed it. Overall, not as bad as I thought after first 11 maps.

This is fantastic with Immoral Conduct, starts off fairly arbitrary with strewn ammo and health ratio but quickly develops into vivid and immersive environments, a worthy sequel to the classic original. -4/5 - Bloodite Krypto.

Unfinished and I can't get it to really work right either. Map19 is a ripoff of the 1996 classic Polygon Base. Some decent maps, but on the edge if I can really recommend it.

Nice work, though some maps are rather confusing. Especially Map 19 sucks (imagine 500 rooms each of them with at least 6 doors... --> orientation impossible) But other maps are really good. 3,5/5

This pack somehow remimded me of Icarus. It's pretty good, not up to the best of them, but good, especially as there are just so many 32 levelsets that lack quallity, it's refreshing. The first few maps were not too god and there were some horrible levels, but if we overlook that, it still has a lot of enjoyability in it.

It was alright. Some of the levels were way too dark. There were a few good maps and a few boring maps. Nothing really spectacular.

It's a good-quality megawad, but I didn't find it very inspiring for some reason.

Pretty good. Better than the first. Worth a solid 4 this time. (The first was 3.5 IMO).

3 stars, a solid megawad, definitely better than awful invasion I, but not great quality, I say if you're a megawad junkie play it, otherwise, give it a look, but there's better sutff out there.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
