- Old school map design from the 90s

- Small maps

- Easy to beat

- Many unpleasant design features like uncomfortable narrow passages, many unnecessary switch flipping and boring repetitive actions,...

This is SO bizarre that's actually a lot of FUN! Play if you like experimental design. I love it!

Good and simple. You like quick small simple maps? You should download this WAD.

On a technical level this is awful - it looks like something from early 1995, and there are lots of mistakes (some of which are trivial, e.g. most of Map07 is flagged as secret, and there are loads of unmarked doors and switches). Each level has one idea and one idea only, usually executed badly (e.g. the ghost monsters in Map14, which never leave their homes). You can usually run past everything, in which case it's decent fun, because the levels are short.

I agree with the reviewer who said it's not all that bad. At least not as Cyb himself stated. It isn't a beginner megawad like DoomJr, but admittedly Cyb went on to create, much much better levels. This is a pretty plain average megawad IMO, so 2.5 stars from me. Good for a "snack".

oh Project X. you seemed like you had some potential, but you never delivered. it's basically Doom Jr. 2.0, with slightly better maps, although one is recycled altogether. these maps are very low quality and wouldn't actually feel out of place if they were in Maximum Doom. heck, even the dehacked patch and the demos for the levels are all put into SEPARATE files elsewhere, which I guess was what had to be done at the time. this is the kind of stuff that newbie mappers actually DON'T do nowadays, you can probably play someone's first map in this day and age and it would look better than all of the maps in here combined.

i'm not gonna increase my star ranking at all, but I will give credit where it is due, as cyb actually had a few ideas going. they just weren't implemented well. a rocket-jumping map? okay. maps that take after IWAD levels but smaller in scale with new areas? cute but not great. an arch-vile ghost monster combination? sure (unfortunately this is supposed to be repeated in MAP29, but it's not hardcoded for the particular map in question and that map also is bugged to be unbeatable because of certain stairs). also a map where you do nothing but kill Commander Keens in a scavenger hunt. while these ideas are nice, not one of them is done pretty well and the wad doesn't improve much.

Not too good. Design - 1. Gameplay - 3. So total is - 2.

Well, whaddaya know. It's very crude and simplistic and even for 1998 the design is shoddy; but it's actually quite fun to play, especially if you just set out to run through the levels as fast as possible. It's like a punk megawad, then; technically very poor but fun.

Small nicely detailed maps with few paths to go so its easy going some good eye candy here as well. At the end it gets little complicated. The monster count is decent on all maps.

I played the whole wad in a few hours, and I really liked it because the levels were not to long! Great Job!! I bet you could do better on other wads though! 8/10 (4/5)

I know that most people hate this Wad, but I actually find it to be ok. Nothing really special, but not as bad as what most people are flinging around.

Really good puzzle map in a big dark metal/stone building. It catches the atmosphere of Bob Evans' Eternal Doom stuff, and I think there are even some homages to some other Eternal Doom maps as well (for example, the big two-layered outdoor area looks a bit like the "amusement park" in MAP26).   In my experience the puzzles were a bit easier than in "Silures" or "Excalibur", but it's possible that having played a lot of puzzle map stuff since I played Eternal Doom, having played through the whole canon of Bob Evans and Jim Flynn, and liking to search for Doom secrets in every map has made me recognize certain tropes better. The puzzles I liked most were (the spoilers only give minor hints):
Gameplay is good too, at the start ammo is scarce so the chainsaw and berserk are your friend, and midtiers say hello from the start on, but hitscanners are the biggest threat. Rockets should be saved for archviles until you find the first larger cache.   9,5/10

Fun, challenging set of maps that looks much better than you might expect for the time it was made. These maps will still slap you around a bit on HMP if you're not staying sharp. The author is fond of Chaingunner ambushes which keep you on your toes. I didn't find the SSG until around MAP05, which was cool, I like when its not given out too early. Pistol-starting the last two maps is pretty tough, but doable.   The map designs do a really good job of letting the player see crucial areas from different angles through progression and the layouts are really tidy overall, and feel a bit more modern than a lot of other 94/95 maps I've played. There are some really nice large-scale vistas (like the start of MAP06), nice uses of verticality and a good mixture of tight and more open combat.   Recommended!

Spectacular visuals and engaging combat make this an absolute must play. There's a puzzle with a "Shoot the thing" answer that kind of comes out of left field and can be an easy place to get stuck if you're not on your toes, but that hardly stops the map from being a thrilling masterpiece.

E3M9's refrain of back-tracking to a church for keys is a little tedious, and there are a few moments where things can become a frustrating key/switch hunt as you figure out what to do next, but aside from that, this an intense and rewarding adventure with beautiful lighting and architecture.
