About This File

This is level 1 of a 4 level storyline episode.

[It's too much work to make 9, so we decided to compress the story a bit!]

STORY SO FAR: [Level 1--Contamination (invade1.wad)]

Mars Base sent an urgent distress call after a new gateway opened up there. You had been sent on the battlecruiser INQUISITOR to combat this new INVASION...

...but not all had gone according to plan. The ship was attacked and boarded just as it entered orbit around Mars. You awakened from hypersleep to find your crewmates either mutated or dead. Your objective was clear: end the CONTAMINATION or die trying...

You finally managed to eradicate all the evil hellspawn from the lower levels of the ship. But, just as you were about to proceed to THE UPPER DECKS, through a viewport, you spotted a huge alien space hulk approaching the INQUISITOR...

[end of Level 1]

[Level 2--The Upper Decks (invade2.wad)]

You must now not only annihilate all intruders aboard the INQUISITOR, but somehow deal with the entire shipload of the alien hulk.

[Please read INVPRO2.TXT before playing the level for the complete story]

It's insane that this was made in 1994. The level of detail, atmosphere and feeling of exploration is simply unmatched by anything from that era. And not only that, but it actually feels like a real place.

Absolutely stellar stuff; I highly recommend this to everyone, including modern players who don't typically play old stuff. You'll be blown away.

Anachronic mapset. (94 can you believe it?). The Inquisitor is plagued by the invasion.

Second level of the unfinished project Invasion and it's an improvement...in parts. Gameplay is mostly the same, but there's more custom textures and a pretty damn impressive hell section/setpiece. Everything is also more polished.

There's still a lot of tunnels and lifts, which does get tedious. Rocket Launcher is hard to find(in fact if you're thinking of playing this, it's in the tunnels in a secret compartment, and even with that info you need to look for it for quite a while).

The map has great atmosphere though. It definitely looks like a spaceship. Ammo placement is different(from the prequel map). If you run out you have to remember where the armory is or where you left that most recent ammo pile.

If you played the previous map, you should play this too. Compared to most 1994 levels it's pretty damn impressive how much detail and decent gameplay is in this.

Good stuff. Lots and lots of rockets. Shame I only found launcher when everything was dead.

"it's generally more atmospheric and sophisticated than most levels from 1994 and 1995". And 2009, by the way. Amazing, one of the best maps i've played. --- 5/5

Amazing wad, blows its prequel away. The atmosphere and detailing is incredible for 1994, and the battles are really challenging on UV. It's a shame the authors never got to finish this "series". 4.5/5

I played this a while ago, its a great level which really feels like a space ship (unlike most) and has all the correct rooms and facilities, great wad.

Wow I loved this... but mannn, I started to get frustrated near the end (took me 40+ min to finish). Anyhow, what I really liked was the emphasis on realistic level design! 5/5

Nice to see a '94 wad that actually shows what people could do back then 5/5

Outstanding, 5/5 no doubt. Better than most modern wads.

This is the sequel to another classic from 1994. It's a bit like System Shock. The architecture is detailed and clever, there's a lot of action, and it's generally more atmospheric and sophisticated than most levels from 1994 and 1995. There's a bizarre face with chomping teeth, a multi-story lift, and the sick bay looks to have early snuff porn impse in one room. In fact the bit with the teeth gave me with the creeps and that's rare for a Doom level.

I can't believe this isn't 5 stars.. I would say that this is my favorite wad of all time. The atmosphere is mind-blowing, the story compelling, and the level design and detail are stunning. This is an old wad, yet it still destroys nearly everything released today. Download this now, keep it forever. It's one wad i couldn't recommend getting more. (COOP OWNS ON THIS)

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
