TaZeR Posted April 7, 2002 I doom using zDoom 1.22, I use 1.22 because I play on zDaemon sometimes, I use freelook and jump and no cheats while playing single player, although jump is a little cheap :) What are your settings usually and what sourceport do you use? 0 Share this post Link to post
zark Posted April 7, 2002 WTF? Why would anyone play that old shitty game... Doom sucks man, go play a real game, like 3D Bass Fishing, or Virtual Stamp Collecting. 0 Share this post Link to post
Submerge Posted April 7, 2002 Boom on Ultra Violence, with weapon recoil off. that's about it. 0 Share this post Link to post

dsm Posted April 7, 2002 Normally PrBoom with all fancy settings off so that it looks and plays exactly like Vanilla Doom. I do occasionally play ZDoom using the mouse combined with keyboard but I still keep the settings close to Vanilla Doom, unless I play a mod which require jumping and/or looking up and down. 0 Share this post Link to post
spank Posted April 7, 2002 1. ZDoom 1.23B33, 640x400 resolution, WSAD keyboard setup, IWADs converted to Hexen format in another directory for editing. 2. PRBoom with default settings. 0 Share this post Link to post
Crendowing Posted April 7, 2002 My control is the same for all ports: Mouse1 = fire Mouse2 = forward Mouse = turn left and right, slow backwards Space = fast backwards Shift = use/open Z = strafe left (almost never use) X = strafe right (see above) Alt + move mouse left or right= strafe (use 99.9% of the time) ZDOOM: 1024x768 rez, sprites and particles, rocket trails on, new automap colors, all other settings set to vanilla DOOM style JDOOM: Dynamic lighting on, lens flares off, intensity of 4, multiply There. Now go home. 0 Share this post Link to post

Erik Posted April 7, 2002 usually: novert2.exe, doom2.exe, wasd for movement, joyb_speed 31 for autorun. MSN Zone IPX emulation for deathmatch. for maps that require an advanced port: boom 2.02 or prboom 2.2.2 with doom2.exe compat settings. sometimes: zdaemon/zdoom for deathmatch or coop. rarely: legacy (only for nimrod) 0 Share this post Link to post

I don't want to have to go searching through the old threads right now, but just take my word for it: I made some posts awhile back that I tried using a mouse and it was actually better than I thought. 0 Share this post Link to post
pritch Posted April 8, 2002 TaZeR said:With the post count off you can't see if somebody is jokeing or just a queerdo, fortunatly I can see your registry date :) Virtual Stamp Collection kind of gives the joke away :) I mostly use zdoom v1.22 now, not the bloated 23 betas, with a Gravis Gamepad Pro, which is old, but feels nice and can control everything I need it to in Doom, including jump and strafe and weapon shift up/down. Heh, tonight was wicked. Me, some snacks, a pitcher of old fashioned lemonade, and a date with Memento Mori maps 01-17, with my girlfriend nicely out of the way out with friends. Sheer self-indulgence, hmm. 0 Share this post Link to post
sirjuddington Posted April 8, 2002 Port: ZDoom v1.23 b33 Resolution: 640x480 CONTROLS WASD movement (A&D to strafe) Mouselook (high sensitivity) Space to jump Left click to shoot Mousewheel to change weapon (although I usually just use the number keys) Right click is secondary fire (on games/ports that support it, ie EDGE) When I get this comp upgraded I will probably play ZDoom on 1280x1024 resolution... 0 Share this post Link to post
