MRB_Doom Posted January 31, 2012 http://en.rian.ru/russia/20120131/171039774.html Anyone else who wants to know the truth about Phobos (I mean the moon, not the probe)? I bet it's "above" top secret and shit. Oh well. 0 Share this post Link to post
MRB_Doom Posted January 31, 2012 http://en.rian.ru/science/20120131/171052488.html Hmm, is the ESA a part of some secret project along with NASA regarding Phobos? Even if NASA cut it's participation with ESA? 0 Share this post Link to post
geo Posted January 31, 2012 NASA has 2 hands just like the rest of us. The right hand doesn't know what the left does. I still wonder why Phobos. Its the closest moon to any planet and it will collide with Mars in about a million years (set your calendar). Some say Phobos is part of Planet X (Cerbes or however it’s spelled) between Mars and Jupiter in the asteroid belt. In fact the asteroid belt is because 2 planetoids had a collision in space. 0 Share this post Link to post
Katamori Posted January 31, 2012 Russian Doomers will love it! There's a lot. 0 Share this post Link to post

The Lag Posted April 17, 2012 All these worlds are yours, except Phobos. Attempt no landing there. Use them together. Use them in peace. 0 Share this post Link to post

Dragonsbrethren Posted April 17, 2012 2001, except it's Europa in the original quote. 0 Share this post Link to post
Krispy Posted April 18, 2012 Ah, that's it. But it was 2010, I believe. 0 Share this post Link to post
MRB_Doom Posted April 18, 2012 Yeah the movie 2010: The Year We Make Contact made it very clear from HAL that Europa is NOT ours and we should not attempt any form of landing there. Science fiction yes, but I'm not sure we really want to find out if there is some truth to that. But, why Europa? 0 Share this post Link to post

eargosedown Posted April 18, 2012 Bigger problem is not finding the liquid water (Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe, and oxygen is the third) but finding an environment where the solar wind doesn't simply fuck anything that tries to live. 0 Share this post Link to post

If life can be found on europa and enceledas, it's going to be found 50 miles below the ice cover, well protected from anything, including us. 0 Share this post Link to post
MRB_Doom Posted April 18, 2012 Man talking about moons and planets makes me even more excited about going on a space trip observing all the wonders that exist in this universe. I guess you can call it space porn. 0 Share this post Link to post
