Making sense of Doom: E1M1

Recommended Posts

Heres my sense of it:
Starting area; I think it's a Lobby of some sort.
Green Armor Room; Probably an Watchtower.
Computer Terminal Room: Possibly an Air Traffic Control Room, hence the computers.
En Route to Nukage Room: Crew walkway?
Nukage Room: Probably the Hangar.
Exit Tunnel: Entrance to Elevator Room?
Elevator Room: Duh.
Exit Room: The Elevator. ( Duh. )
Secret Tunnel: Entrance to Courtyard?
Secret Tunnel 2: Entrance to the Watchtower.
Watchtower: Probably a Watchtower to The Hanger
Courtyard: Duh.

Everything except a Hangar.

A link to my design of E1M1 thread would seem relevant here. It makes more sense if you think of it in terms of game design than if you try to think of it in terms of story.

Whoa, really?
( BTW, The Nukage Room is just flooded because an accident with Nukage happened and it ate through the floor )

I've always imagined the first nukage room of E2M4 as some sort of nuclear disaster that flooded the whole computer room. That's just imagination, not overanalyzing...

Really the only E1M1 analysis that I didn't think was a waste of time, TBH.
