In which we describe our most anticipated game from E3.

Recommended Posts

Now that E3 is over, which demo impressed you the most? For me, it's The Last Of Us.

A lot of people scoffed at the non-interactive feel of this demo, but anyone who's played Uncharted can tell you otherwise. I can't wait to see more.

Personally,

Nothing really impressed me although something really really dissapointed me deep within; Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

Mine would be Doom 3 BFG edition simply because it will be the first time I can play Doom 3 without lag, and it also comes with Doom 1 and 2 right?

It looks pretty interesting, but it also looks like it's full of nothing but quicktime events.

South Park: Stick of Truth

Two reasons: Trey Parker and Matt Stone have more than a helping hand in creating it, and its made by Obsidian, who did NWN2 and KOTOR2. So basically, a Playable South Park episode with a bunch of callbacks to episodes while being an RPG at the same time. In all honesty, nothing else at E3 comes close and their attempts to are laughable.

P.S. At first I was hoping to see something from Doom 4, but now that its passed, I'm not all surprised I didn't. I get the whole 'secretive' aspect of working on a project but I kind of wish id/Bethesda would throw us a bone to prove to us (and the gaming community at large) that they are still actually working on the damn thing.

Star Wars 1313. From what little they've shown, they really seem to have captured that classic Ralph McQuarrie look. And it's reported that the force and jedi, etc, won't even be mentioned in the course of the game. An interesting take on the Star Wars universe.

Borderlands 2.

It is the game I loved, except every single thing is improved.

There was a rumour a few months back that development had been put on hold, but that rumour was confirmed by Pete Hines as, and I quote, "Complete bollocks". They're still working on it.

There was probably some cool game that I'll really like there, but certainly not among what was shown at the big conferences.

I haven't followed E3 at all, but I did watch that Last of Us video a few days back and liked it. Yet, I have no desire to play it. I remember thinking the same about that latest Hitman game... These games are genuinely entertaining to watch, even though you couldn't pay me to sit down with a pad and go through it all. Probably the whole cinematic vibe and all, except even better because the action and atmosphere, at least during these gameplay vids, aren't ruined by terrible witticisms and lame characters.

Ok, here it goes:

Kinda a slow E3, nothing really big to hold the thing together. Geriatric consoles and all the big PC hits already came out. That new Unchart-er, Naughty Dog game looks fairly good though. Much grittier and more tense than Uncharted.

Speaking of which, what the hell happened to that Star Wars MMO? No one even talks about it.

Wow, that does look pretty cool and promising (<- huge starwars nerd) kind of reminds me of Rebel Assault/2

Biggest selling points for me though, are the timeline, character development direction (the no force mumbo jumbo is a nice boon to that) and actual game style (since that was just a polished demo.)

My favorite from E3 is Borderlands 2. I love the first one.

edit; in the lucastarts.com/1313 whatnot website, there's a still image of the protagonist(?) looking over the area from the demo, and a Lambda shuttle escorted by two TIE's. Safe to assume if those are accurate that it's either original trilogy to pre-Courscant capture timeline.

For me, I guess it's a toss up between Star Wars 1313 like Mogul said and Aliens: Colonial Marines.

I'm glad they are making a new Star Wars game, especially one which will be available on pc and I am really looking forward to it.

Not really much for me to be excited about. I'm just waiting for:

-Serious Sam 3 on PS3
-Doom 3 BFG Edition
-Doom 4
-Borderlands 2
-Skyrim DLC/GOTY Edition

Might try some other games when I can buy them second hand cheaply, such as Starhawk and maybe that new Aliens game.

I retract my "laughable" statement, I really liked what I saw of Aliens: CM.

Intrigued by Watch Dogs:

I didn't pay attention to E3 and only saw the gameplay video of that game by pure chance. But I concur.

We're all thinking it, so I'll just go ahead and say it:
HALO 4

Also, no news on half life 2 episode 3?

Fuck 'CASH-IN 4', hated every 'Assassins Creed' game with fierce intense but the new one really looks like it could be pretty fun, I'll pass on 'Boredomlands 2' and 'The Last Of Us' looks to be another one path generic 3rd person game with shitloads of scripted gameplay, 'Aliens Colonial Marines' will suck ass if it has regen life, 'Farcry 3' looks really formulaic and generic. This is probably the worst E3 to date with almost nothing remotely interesting.

i was interested in Last of Us until i watched the gameplay demo.
it looks exactly like Uncharted. sure, it's by Naughty Dog, but this looks like they just made new textures and wrote some new characters and dropped them into "Uncharted: End of the World Edition."

Watchdogs looks awesome.

Was Borderlands 2 shown off? That's the only anything I'm anticipating at the moment, and I don't really pay much attention to E3 for whatever reason.

I still play. It's a really fun and interesting game, but it came with the standard bag of Year 1 problems that it seems pretty much every MMO launches with. But yeah, very cool game, and a great role-playing experience.

Halo 4's art direction is actually great. They seem to have left behind some of the visual themes they've clung to since the first game and moved toward something much, much cooler. I felt like I was looking at screenshots of some of the final missions Rage (with the tech bases) and not a Halo game. Even the new weapon designs reflect this new-found tech sensibility. Instead of rounded, shiny, generic (imo) things, we have detailed, black, techy things, almost like something from a DOOM 3 or Rage set. What can I say, it's the first Halo game I've ever been excited about at first sight.

There is nothing I give a fuck about seeing/playing in the near future. Maybe when we come across some Doom 4 content, I might garner some interest.

I loved the idea of the South Park game, but I'm no RPG player, so it'll probably be skipped over.

I'm really looking forward to Watch Dogs. It came out of nowhere, and it looks pretty cool. I really liked how they showed off the PC version as well.

I'm kinda interested in Halo 4, but I can't help but think of Metroid Prime with what they showed. The HUD was very similar, and those humanoid enemies they showed were almost identical to Space Pirates as well. I'm worried about the multiplayer, though. I've heard some rumors about it that concern me, and I hated Reach's multiplayer as well. I don't want to pay $60 for just the singleplayer.

South Park is looking good. I'm glad the creators are involved with the game so much.

The Wii U looks neat. I won't be able to get one when it comes out, but I hope to get one in the future. Pikmin 3 looked great, and ZombiU looked kinda cool as well. Seems like Nintendo has all their bases covered with the WiiU's launch lineup.

I'm glad a developer is finally trying to make a game look like the show said game is based on. So many times have I cringed when I've seen characters from the Simpsons or South Park in glorious shit polygons.

South Park game? It'll suck. The show hasn't been any good for quite a while, and the humor seems much more juvenile and low brow lately. I mean, it was never exactly the high point of comedy, but it's getting pretty terrible now. There are some good episodes here and there, but honestly I think the last good season was season 9. After that, they took the show in a completely different direction, and it sucks now.
