Gotcha MAP20 Remake

Hello there folks

It took a while to make this level, since I am idealess alot. But finally I finnished it and it's playable in both single-player and multiplayer mode! It's designed for both ZDoom and Skulltag.

It was alright, quite enjoyable on UV for a quick blast. I liked how it's not simply a straight remake following the same path with a few extra sectors thrown in, but at the same time it didn't really feel much like the original map at all; with the exception of the start area, it had little to nothing in common. Not much of a 'remake', more of an original map with some minor references for nostalgia purposes.

I didn't run into any gameplay problems, but you seem to have somehow forgotten to include the one moment of "Gotcha!" that made it remotely memorable though; where's the Cyber/Spider 'duel'?

There's also missing lower textures on either side of the bridge which raises at the end (Sector 8), but that was the only visual error I found.

Oh, and that same sector doesn't do any damage if you try to go wading in the lava before raising it.

This is a good map. It felt a lot like the original map and it had a lot in common. It is a decent remake.

I think it's good that you left out the Spider/Cyber duel as that was not a good moment in "Gotcha!".

Overall a good remake that feels a lot like the original map.

oh no you didnt just say that!!! that imo was the highlight of the map. I would always pit those 2 against eachother and did a best out of 3 to see who was more powerful.


Good remake btw, are you going to do any other remakes?

Alight, wasn't bad, though I'm a bit biased against stealth monsters, but still pretty good and enat effects. Not sure, but maybe more health, not sure, and not entirely sure if instant death lava is so amazing. Also, while the iconic cyber/spidey is gone, I suppose Gotcha! can still be the Hellknight room. So not bad, hope to see updates too it and more maps from you in general.
