Revenge of the 90's (CO-OP / Single Player, 20 maps)

Recommended Posts

A few years in the making, my biggest Doom mod is finally complete!

"Revenge of the 90's"

This is for fans of things like Hell Revealed 2, Plutonia 2, Momento Mori, or even Drown in Blood. Or of course fans of my old WAD, UAC Rebellion, but I think these are much better. 20 maps long with more of an oldschool focus - Gunning down demons!

There are a few new things:
No pistol, you start with a Machine Gun. Works well until you can find the Chaingun.

Machine Gun Zombies - Sort of like a Possesed Marine, they move fast and are tough.

BFG Zombies - Now these are the ones to look out for. No matter where you are in the map, you can hear the BFG charge up before it fires, so you'll have a second to take cover. These can be used to your advantage to clear out rooms full of cannon fodder!

Here are some YouTube videos to see gameplay:

And of course the download link!

I hope you all enjoy! Feedback is appreciated!

I'm not interested in mods at the moment, but I did watch a few seconds of the first video and I noticed you actually put the duke3d shotgun in there. lol!

I feel inexcusably noobish for asking this, but how can I upload it to the idgames database? I've read the rules and everything but I can't figure out how to actually go about doing it. Last release of mine, someone did it for me. Damn my lack of forum experience!

I remember coming across the video on youtube for this a few days ago and thought it looked interesting but never got around to downloading it. I will download it now and give it a whirl. :)

Played 3 maps and it's awesome! By visual appearance, by gameplay. I really like it. At the beginning you are lacking of ammunition, but soon after it's getting better.

To your question, the way described in the 5th point here (using command line) works for me. BUT if you upload it to idgames, it will be rejected because of copyright issues (I looked in your wad in an editor). You REALLY SHOULD remove some of the animations/textures from your wad.

Ah damn, that's a shame, but thanks a lot for the info. I guess I need to work on a patched version that removes all copyrighted materials!

No, I don't think you do need to work on a patched version - which is a shame because I know you already have.

What you do need to do is ignore letter-of-the-law alarmist idiots like this who don't really know what they're talking about. Seriously, no-one is going to shit a brick over a few images being included in your work.

Hey there everyone, so recently I released Revenge of The 90's, my COOP/SP wad. Upon further review, and thanks to certain people pointing out a few bugs, I've had to make a patched version!

Download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?952xnglpsppt61a

There were a few maps which had small issues that caused them to be unbeatable. Now they're fixed up and ready to go.

Video for those who have no idea what this is:

Enjoy the bug fix, and hopefully we will see some of you at Zdaemon's FMM #043!

I still see copyrighted material in that video. I think someone already told you about that, and you said you'd remove it?

Originally I had intended to remove the Beavis and Butthead Movie area, however I've looked a bit into Fair Use. There are tons of holes and things that are difficult to understand, but I've found that basically use is "fair" if it does not negatively affect the economic interests of the copyright holder - and if anything, this is just free advertising :)

Hopefully, it won't be rejected from the database!

... doomkid,

where the fuck have you been

Away for too damn long! Got out of school, than back into school in Australia, long-short :P Hopefully i'll be poking around here again more often. Online Dooming is practically impossible from Australia, though.. But there's always maps to be made! I'm glad to see you're still here, Tango.

..Oh, and the title "Revenge of The 90's" is more about the mapping style than the actual 90's references :P

The name 'Revenge of the 90's" just rings copyright-infringement to me, and I haven't seen anything of it yet.

I apologize for the double post, but check out this video of the popular 'Doom Center' mod:

This thing is literally bursting at the seams with copyrighted material, but it's epic and we wouldn't want it any other way ;)

Why do you guys go crazy about copyright? It's just 3 snapshots from the Beavis and Butthead movie, nothing major. Lots of wads take stuff like textures, sounds and music from other copyrighted sources and nobody's bitching about those, so why is this different?

I'm really liking this thing so far. It's certainly got a bit of a chaotic old-school feel. All the reskins and new monsters liven it up a bit, and there's plenty to a'murder. My favorite style of gameplay is that which involves slaughtering of many zombie-tier enemies. Fun stuff.

Edit: I think I got stuck right here...

Edit: N/M, saw it in the editor. You certainly want to make it so that you can't just run past those DOORSTOP bars.

I never said I approved those other resource-stealing WAD's either. 99% of all sprite rips are garbage anyway.

When I think of a WAD named "Revenge of the 90's" I think of a barely playable rip-fest of sprites and enemies, all taken from a decade of 2.5D games. That might not be the case here, but it surely doesn't sound appealing even if it is something that is generally approved by the majority of the community.

Greetings. I'm trying to upload a wad I made recently to the idgames database, but I'm unable to connect using any FTP client.

The WAD and accompanying TXT file are here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?952xnglpsppt61a

Can someone please upload this for me? I've tried several clients but I just can't get it to work. (I'm pretty bad with this stuff anyway..) That would be a huge favor.
Thanks in advance!
