Doom Juan Posted September 1, 2012 How many sectors are too many sectors? Is it dependent upon computer power? How many things can be displayed at any one time? I seem to remember 64 with vanilla Doom... 0 Share this post Link to post

Stay at or below two billion one-hundred-forty-seven million four-hundred-eighty-three thousand six-hundred forty seven sectors. If you find this too constraining, you can split your level into several levels using the hub system. There's some guy who proved that you could have at least 30 000 levels in a single wad, so if you need 64424509440000 sectors, you can do it. Xaser Posted September 1, 2012 Why doesn't Gez have a custom title by now? 0 Share this post Link to post

In answer to the OP, how many sectors or things can be displayed without slowing down gameplay are, indeed, a function of your computer's power. Gez has already indicated that ZDooM's 'limitations', for practical purposes, will likely not be exceeded by any but the most masochistic mapper. Therefore, the limitations you experience will probably be driven by your computer specifications. 0 Share this post Link to post

Probably because of one of the following: a) none of the admins are proficient in pidgeon French b) a custom title that would truly reflect how clever Gez is is beyond their powers of expression 0 Share this post Link to post

Gez Posted September 2, 2012 ReX said:the most masochistic mapper Seriously, at this point it's not masochism. It's automatism, like using a WadC program to automatically generate stuff. There's no way an actual human is ever going to draw a million sectors in a single map, let alone over two billion... 0 Share this post Link to post
Scypek2 Posted September 3, 2012 PrBoom has better performance than Zdoom, so it would allow more everything without slowdown or other problems, but it's really limited compared to Zdoom. 0 Share this post Link to post
