James Bond Spyfall [SPOILERS?]

Recommended Posts

Just saw Skyfall, the new James Bond movie. It was pretty awesome. A bit of a plot twist at the end though.

What do you guys think of it?

Can't say I've enjoyed any Bond movie since Golden Eye. The Daniel Craig movies in particular.

I thought Casino Royale was pretty damn good. Maybe not coincidentally, it had the same director as Goldeneye. Haven't seen the new one yet.

I really enjoyed it and thought that the way it and the previous two films form a trilogy developing Craig's Bond from a new guy to the Bond we've all gotten to know is very cool. Skyfall feels pretty close the the campy and over-the-top Bonds of old, but with that modern, darker feel... As opposed to Quantum of Solace which could just as easily have been a Bourne film (good films in their own right IMO, but not what I got to 007 for).

Spoiler

It's also pretty sweet that the end of Skyfall basically means you could now go on into any of the pre-Brosnan films seamlessly (if you ignored the fact you'd be jumping back up to 50 years in time, at least) and it's a fine continuity.

I've never really been a fan of Daniel Craig as Bond, just doesn't give me that 007 feel I got from Sean Connery, Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan, but I can go far enough to say he's much better than George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton though. I will still go see Skyfall in a few days or so.

Disregarding Skyfall due to the fact I haven't seen it, Casino Royale was the only Bond film I've ever really enjoyed.

I'd rather watch the worst Bond movie than one of the Bourne films though. Christ, they're generic and dull. Sorry Phobus.
