DoomGater Posted February 21, 2013 I am trying to get a Multiplayer Game going on ONE PC using good old DOS doom.exe. I tried to run two instances of dosbox and use it's IPX emulator, but this does not work... Any other ideas anybody?? EDIT: SOLVED! I just did the Dosbox-thingie RIGHT. Server: "IPXNET STARTSERVER 1213" Client: "IPXNET CONNECT 127.0.0.1 1213" 0 Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted February 21, 2013 use a port that got splitscreen like Legacy. Or that other port I can't recall now that would let you run different instances of it and connect on the localhost. Who knows, maybe that works with any TCP/IP port. 0 Share this post Link to post
DoomGater Posted February 21, 2013 Ah, thanks for your reply, but I just solved it. I had an error in my dosbox-config, now it runs like a breeze!! BTW: I did not want to use legacy, because I'm on Linux and the *nix and dos-versions are too outdated... 0 Share this post Link to post
fraggle Posted February 21, 2013 There are plenty of maintained source ports that run on Linux. Chocolate Doom and PrBoom+ are two examples. 0 Share this post Link to post

Thanks, but don't forget, Vavoom, Edge and of course Doomsday. There are even many more for the brave that are not afraid of compiling...;-) I was looking for a way to starta complete "real" multiplayer game (Client and server) on ONE PC. And I already succeeded using DOSbox. 0 Share this post Link to post
