fodders Posted May 18, 2002 Hope everyone is getting excited about world cup in Japan/Korea Just heard on tv, England's David Beckham, is "Practicing kicking a ball", now...how do I put this? Beckham is worth something like $60,000,000 as a football player, I have a grandson out on the lawn practicing kicking a ball, Beckham had fucking better be PERFECTING kicking a ball !!!! 0 Share this post Link to post
Lüt Posted May 18, 2002 That's just a crying shame. Wasn't England the country who raised everybodies taxes because their medical industry was more pitiful than his salary? Dumbasses should just pay these sport players the average working man's salary, problem solved. But no, government would never do anything sensible like that. God everytime I hear something like that I just feel like killing those pigs, put them in lines and pop caps in their skulls. /me wanders off breaking random objects. 0 Share this post Link to post
Laimiz Posted May 18, 2002 yeah, football is the best game. Do you think France will defend their cup? I guess so :] 0 Share this post Link to post
darknation Posted May 18, 2002 Football is a homoerotic sex substitute. 0 Share this post Link to post
deadnail Posted May 18, 2002 Soccer doesn't convince me as a sport. Seen the Rotten.com pic of the soccer player pissing during a stretch? Yeah, good sport. 0 Share this post Link to post
fodders Posted May 18, 2002 Football never makes it in USA 'coz it's a game of 2 halves, 45 minutes each, way too long for advertisers and too long for the Americans with short attention spans 0 Share this post Link to post
LorD BaZTArD Posted May 18, 2002 heh heh heh Fod has it right on there...although, explain baseball :P (*Baz Ties all baseball fanatics up). Soccer, I think thats an OK sport, as long as I have nothing to do with it :P, now Rugby union on the other hand, is good. AND like quite a few other sports, we always kick the asses of the british side, and get this, most of these sports are british in origin. :P 0 Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted May 18, 2002 Football is not very fun to watch, but an awesome sport to play. 0 Share this post Link to post
LorD BaZTArD Posted May 18, 2002 argh, fredrik, when you say football, do you mean Soccer? Or what are you referring to? 0 Share this post Link to post
fodders Posted May 18, 2002 I think I prefer rugby league to union And yeh, Britain invented every sport nearly, and gets it's ass kicked at all of them nowadays 0 Share this post Link to post
LorD BaZTArD Posted May 18, 2002 You like League? Oh well.......well, no I shouldn't say that, because I don't know the state of league in Britain, but it's currently a shambles here, sub-standard crap. Union here on the other hand, is at the best it has been in years :D The thing is, it's now a tradition to beat britain by fifty points or more :P and we can't break tradition can we ;). 0 Share this post Link to post

Spike Posted May 18, 2002 Sport? you mean, like, over-exertion involving 22 sweaty men? No wonder i don't like gay porn. Seriously tho, i feel like i'm the only bloke in the UK who's not salivating and ejaculating at the prospect of spending god-knows how long in front of the tv, watching strenuous activities while improving their beer gut... Footie hater? Me? 0 Share this post Link to post
fodders Posted May 18, 2002 My beer gut is coming along quite nicely thank you 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted May 18, 2002 isn't soccer that game that causes roits? or is that the clevland browns that do that? I would not mind seeing soccer become more popular in the states. be something different, i am not much a sports fan. i would rather play than watch 0 Share this post Link to post

Mithrandir Posted May 18, 2002 ...salivating and ejaculating at the prospect of spending god-knows how long in front of the tv, watching strenuous activities while improving their beer gut... You aren't. I for one only start cumming once the porno has started playing, not merely at the thought of watching it. Actually, it makes me laugh in a weird way. It's cringeworthy to think of yourself behaving in such a bizzare fashion on your own sofa. 0 Share this post Link to post

Footie hater? Me? I must be the equivalent of you in my country - I can hardly imagine a more boring programme to watch than some sports game *yawn*.Wasn't England the country who raised everybodies taxes because their medical industry was more pitiful than his salary? I don't see how you Americans are any better in regards to sports players (taxes is a different thing and I shan't bother you with that) - you insinuate that Brits are dumb because they pay sports players fortunes...just like every other country including the US. But maybe I misunderstood something around here? 0 Share this post Link to post

Spike Posted May 18, 2002 Fredrik said:If I were talking about american football, then I'd say "american football" and not "football". Excellent point. Football (soccer) : Using your FOOT to control a BALL. Football (American) : Using your hands to carry a distended object across a field of (armoured) men. Christ, it's like a pussy's version of Rugby. Where's the armour on those guys, eh? (and before u start picking, i mean shoulder pads and helmets) 0 Share this post Link to post

Everyone absolutely loves the sport (except me). That, coupled with the fact that all matches will be held at insane hours like 3 AM up to 7 AM means Argentina will be pretty much disabled/off during the Cup. 0 Share this post Link to post
Liam Posted May 19, 2002 Spike said:Christ, it's like a pussy's version of Rugby. Where's the armour on those guys, eh? I don't suppose you've ever put that 'armor' on and played a real game of American Football? 0 Share this post Link to post
stphrz Posted May 19, 2002 In rugby, the helmetless players don't smack their heads together full force like in American football. Otherwise fractured skulls and life threatening head injuries would be extremely common. They are not. Rugby is a very rough game, but it's rough in a different way than American football. There's a lot less high force blunt impact in rugby. Just watch how the two games are played for five seconds :P 0 Share this post Link to post
Spike Posted May 19, 2002 Absolutely right. It's a theoretical view, not a first-hand one. 0 Share this post Link to post

But maybe I misunderstood something around here? What do you mean "we americans", you think I wouldn't put a $50,000 cap on "entertainer"'s salaries as soon as I became dictator? Yeah it's everywhere in general, but IIRC England was the one with the "money emergency", the US government already has more than enough money for everything it needs, although I sure wouldn't mind every salary in excess of $50,000 going to it. 0 Share this post Link to post
