Avoozl Posted August 20, 2013 Well I had no problem getting all the right files to try berserker, but you can always get KMQuake2 which has some new enable-able effects and graphics settings. 0 Share this post Link to post
SavageCorona Posted August 20, 2013 Are you using the Steam version? http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1756937 Are you using a non-Steam version? http://www.markshan.com/knightmare/ Have fun. 0 Share this post Link to post
schwerpunk Posted August 20, 2013 Don't know about communities, but for multiplayer support and general tweakability, you can't beat Q2pro. The graphical options are incredible - you can make it look super-fancy, or like it was running on a simple Voodoo or TNT card, or anywhere in between. 0 Share this post Link to post
SavageCorona Posted August 20, 2013 You lied to me about Q2Pro, the graphics still look like shit. I expected something like Berserker which looks something like it was ported to the Quake 3 engine. BEST IDEA EVER: Port Quake 2 to the Quake 3 engine. 0 Share this post Link to post
DeletedUser Posted August 22, 2013 The only Quake II engine I know of which is continually updated/developed is Knightmare Quake II The other was Quake II Evolved which attempted to resemble Doom 3 but that shortly vanished into the ether, Knightmare is the only long and last standing Q2 engine thus far. The only place I know of where you can a quick response for anything Quake related is the ol Func_Messageboard for Quake Mappers/Modders. 0 Share this post Link to post
ducon Posted August 22, 2013 Your link is dead and the source code does not compile. 0 Share this post Link to post
Flesh420 Posted August 22, 2013 http://q2s.tastyspleen.net/ That link. Q2pro is the best I've found for DM and you can change the gfx so they're kinda cell-shaded. 0 Share this post Link to post
Bandwart Posted August 28, 2013 This is slightly off-topic, but does anyone know if there's a "Quake 2 Builder/Editor"? 0 Share this post Link to post
Dragonsbrethren Posted August 28, 2013 Radiant's pretty much the standard for all the Quake games. I'm not sure what other editors work with Quake 2. 0 Share this post Link to post
exp(x) Posted August 29, 2013 I'm a big fan of Yamagi Quake II, but I'm also the type of person who prefers Chocolate Doom and TyrQuake. 0 Share this post Link to post
Avoozl Posted August 29, 2013 XCOPY said:yquake is nice for it's support of ogg music file formatKMQUAKE2 (Knightmare Quake 2) has the ability to use folder music and it also supports ogg, it doesn't have cell shading but it does have a number of other graphical enhancements, all of which can be changed to your liking in the options or reverted back to the original (3d/2d explosions, new blood effects, bloom, etc). 0 Share this post Link to post

Pencil of Doom Posted December 10, 2014 If i were you i would use KMQuake2 as that is probably the most stable source port of all, in my opinion that is. Althrough if wish a source port that looks faithful to the original then you could use Yamagi. Just my 2 cents. One more thing, for mods KMQuake2 is defently your best choice. 0 Share this post Link to post
june gloom Posted December 10, 2014 Wow, Quake2XP's come a long way since I last used it. 0 Share this post Link to post

If one likes graphics & eye candy, just try them all - they all look good. For multiplayer-online stuff, I only know Q2PRO NB: why is a Quake2 question asked in DoomWorld??? SuperflyJohnson Posted December 13, 2014 Is Knightmare still the only port that supports the mission packs? When I looked at ports like Berserker and XP I don't recall any having support for the expansions. 0 Share this post Link to post

If not, then you could try, to play the expansions bring the console and type in -game and then the name of expansion. 0 Share this post Link to post
