Boondorl Posted January 6, 2014 Was curious as to what the go-to engine is for the best compatibility. I'm currently getting back into the mapping scene and am using Doom 2's engine, but was wondering if something like Boom would be better. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted January 7, 2014 The lowest common denominator for cross-port compatibility is the "vanilla" Doom II engine, or Chocolate Doom which makes sure to have all the same bugs and limits as the original engine. Anything else is a trade-off between additional features and smaller potential userbase. Boom is a good compromise, since most ports (except Chocolate Doom, of course) are Boom-compatible nowadays. 0 Share this post Link to post
Vermil Posted January 7, 2014 Personally, I would not yet consider Doomsday Boom compatible. 0 Share this post Link to post
