As that old saying goes, if there is a will there is a way. No spoilers, watch the demos and see for yourself what I found. :)

Works as advertised :) So It's a little redundant now, but here's the original 1.2 demo file.

Also, thanks for the kind words in the textfile, I'm genuinely touched.

And now I'm finally ready to dump the last of S* wad runs. Link to the demos at the bottom of this post.

SUDT-RYB.ZIP - Demos for Slaughter Until Death (SUDTIC.WAD) by The Innocent Crew

  • S2T1-238.LMP - UV Max on E2M1 in 2:38 (YT)
  • S2T2-353.LMP - UV Max on E2M2 in 3:53 (YT)
  • S2T3-618.LMP - UV Max on E2M3 in 6:18 (YT)
  • S2T4-356.LMP - UV Max on E2M4 in 3:56 (YT)
  • S2T5-510.LMP - UV Max on E2M5 in 5:10 (YT)
  • S2T6-513.LMP - UV Max on E2M6 in 5:13 (YT)
  • S2T7-552.LMP - UV Max on E2M7 in 5:22 (YT)
  • S2T8-134.LMP - UV Max on E2M8 in 1:34 (YT)
  • S2T9-555.LMP - UV Max on E2M9 in 5:55 (YT)
The first The Innocent Crew (MM, MM2, Requiem) release, an Episode 2 replacement. Criminally underrecorded on. Thanks also to Serge for quite a few of these routes.

SUNG-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on (SunGod v1.0) (SUNGOD.WAD) by D.R. Duncan in 11:35 (YT)
Large, trippy, atmospheric. Nice music too.

SURM-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on SURMONT.WAD by Larry Schaudies in 8:17 (YT)
A wad of the guy's farm, and a real kitchen sink level. Better than it sounds. Apparently he also hangs huge X-rated posters on his bedroom walls.

SURR-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on (Surrounded!) (SURROUND.WAD) by Jim Flynn in 0:22 (YT)
Early proof of concept level from future TeamTNT member Jim Flynn. Mainly exists to display author's cleverness.

SW11-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on SW1.WAD by Stan Warman in 1:11 (YT)
E1M1 with a bunch of monsters in the courtyard.

SW21-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on SW2.WAD by Stan Warman in 1:32 (YT)
E1M1 with a different bunch of monsters in the courtyard.

SWMP-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on SWAMP.WAD by Richard "Levelord" Gray in 6:56 (YT)
Early Doom level from future Duke3D level designer Levelord, part of an aborted episode replacement. Ego is already fully developed.

SWEE-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on SWEET.WAD by James Bearden in 3:41 (YT)
Unfinished feeling, level geometry is basic, but some good fights. Reused as Map01 in the 1994 Tune-up project.

SWRD-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on Sword of Damocles (SWORD.WAD) by Ray Johnson in 3:58 (YT)
Fun level, first half is a fairly tightly packed base, second is a huge arena designed in the shape of the titular sword.

SWTD-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on Sweet-Death (SWETDETH.WAD) by Chris Ward in 1:02 (YT)
Designed as a small deathmatch arena, worth a spin in single player though. Garish texturing, basic geometry.

SWFT-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on SWFORT.WAD by Unknown in 7:25 (YT)
Surfaced on /idgames with very little identifying information, but it was apparently entered into the PC Zone wad design competition in 1994, and placed as one of three runners-up. Good choice by the judges. A variety of challenges packed inside a large castle.

SYMB-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on SYMBOLIC.WAD by Eric Birnie in 3:45 (YT)
Sandy Peterson's levels are the clear inspiration behind this wad, with its variety in environments and texturing. Feels pretty cohesive though.

SPITNRYB.ZIP - Nightmare Demos for SPIT.WAD by Mr. Micro (YT)
  • SPT1n021.LMP - NM Speed on E1M1 in 0:21
  • SPT2n050.LMP - NM Speed on E1M2 in 0:50

  • SPT6n048.LMP - NM Speed on E1M6 in 0:48
  • SPT7n100.LMP - NM Speed on E1M7 in 1:00
  • SPT8n021.LMP - NM Speed on E1M8 in 0:21
  • SPT9n035.LMP - NM Speed on E1M9 in 0:35
  • SPITn627.LMP - NM Speed Movie on E1M1 - E1M8 in 6:27
Yes, I already uploaded demos for this wad, but they were UV Max, these are NM speed. Basic episode 1 replacement with short simple levels.

Ah, new SUDTiC demos, the first in nine years! I didn't see all the demos from S-part2 yet but simply had to jump ahead to watch these. Thank you.

More quest demos from my end:

  • WANT.WAD by Dr I Badcoe:
    - UV Max in 14:33
    - UV Speed in 2:57
    Classic, must-play.
  • WANTMOMY.WAD (from dmcraz.zip) by unknown author:
    - UV Max in 1:29
    - NM Pacifist in 0:20
A thoroughly inconsequential map. In the months these demos spent gathering dust on my HDD TGH posted a complete set for dmcraz, so just consider these a bonus. ;)
Andy: the existing DSDA WAD entry is here.
  • Walltrap ver 1.0 (WALLTRAP.WAD) by Martin Beggerman:
    - UV Max in 1:38
    - NM Speed in 0:07
A small DM map with a solo component, not on /idgames yet.
  • WALKER.WAD by Calabraun AKA The Ley Line Walker:
    - UV Max in 3:51
    - NM Speed in 0:11
Slightly more solid than the previous entry.
  • Wages of Sin (wagessin.wad) by Sam K. Ellis III:
    - UV Max in 4:51
The only other good map in this set.

As for the Apocalypse Project, I knew knew about ways to get past the MapPlane issues a few years ago :p

Annoyingly, not. The files are the same length, but mine is dated a week earlier and has a zeroed out reject. Sending an update to Andy.

It's about time I posted in the thread again. Here is the next batch of demos following my previous one, which were recorded in late September to mid-October. This time, you get a monotextured maze of rooms and corridors, three lackluster levels that are better simply by virtue of not being monotextured mazes of rooms and corridors, and an editor practice level that should've been kept on the author's hard drive. Enjoy!

CRS2-816.ZIP - UV max on DMCROSS.WAD (CROSS.WAD in dmcros.zip cross2.zip) by Brad Hughes in 8:16 (YT)
D123-TGH.ZIP - UV demos for the WADs in dmd123.zip, by "Dave"

  • DAV1-624.LMP - UV max on E2M1: The Gateway (DAVE1.WAD) in 6:24 (YT)
  • DAV2-248.LMP - UV max on E2M2: The Pedestal (DAVE2.WAD) in 2:46 (YT)
  • DAV3-618.LMP - UV max on E2M3: The Great DOOM (DAVE3.WAD) in 6:18 (YT)
DAVE-TGH.ZIP - UV demos Dave.WAD (in dmdave.zip) by David Bruni
  • DAVE-157.LMP - UV max in 1:57 (YT)
  • DAVE-007.LMP - UV speed in 0:07.14 (YT)
EDIT (6/13/2015 10:07 PM PDT): Updated the text file and associated filenames and URLs for my DMCROSS.WAD demo because the copy originally used for the demo was a duplicate upload that has since been removed from the archives. The text file, filenames and URLs now refer to the original upload of the level, made six months earlier.

Forgotten but not dead, this thread shall go on.

A few semi-random entries from my backlog:

  • wads.zip - two not-so-great WADs by Michael Hafen:
    HALL.WAD (3 levels) - a UV Max movie in 7:35
    KILL.WAD (9 levels) - a NM Speed movie in 2:23 (!)
    The only quest-proper entry today.

  • HELIPAD.WAD by Sean R. Malloy:
    - UV Max in 2:32
    - NM Speed/Pacifist in 0:07
    - NM100S in 0:59
The text file goes to some length to disprove the comments on the /idgames database ("it's not a bug, it's a feature!")

  • Leap Of Faith (LOF.WAD) by Robert Heaney - UV Max in 11:32

  • MANSE11.WAD by Jason Scanlin:
    - UV Max in 3:43
    - UV Speed in 1:32
    - NM Speed in 2:16

  • DON'T PANIC! (NOPANIC.WAD) by HĂ¥kan "Zap" Andersson:
    - UV Max in 4:50
    - NM Speed in 2:55
    The best of the bunch.

  • RD1.WAD by unknown author from ace_dwf.zip - a UV Max in 11:43 (Boom 2.02 complevel)
The only WAD from the PC Zone WAD competition collection that has no demo on DSDA (read the demo TXT for the explanation). The edited version of the WAD (RD1_.WAD) is in the demo ZIP.

LMP - give! or it didn't happen. Especially as your proposed solution is diametrically opposed to mine.

Holy shit paste, this is very surprising and you came back with a host of demos, Friday TV is sorted then. I would like to see Invade1 (or was it two that needed it?) Get an improvement in the max department, I tried it myself but can't invest the time into finding all the secrets at the moment.

This reminds me that I have a bunch of videos I recorded but haven't uploaded yet because I wanted to have a "buffer" ready for when I start uploading again. Anyway, here is the first of them, and it happens to be on a forgettable edit of the DoomEd example level MINE1.WAD. But hey, it's two demos for the price of one, as usual!

DMDD-TGH.ZIP - UV demos on Dan & Dave 1.1 (DD11D1.WAD in dmdd.zip) by Dan Lovett

  • DMDD-353.LMP - UV max in 3:53 (YT)
  • DMDD-151.LMP - UV speed in 1:51 (YT)
I think I will be uploading demos for one WAD every Friday, from this point on. What do you think?

I just this second finished watching that, the UV speed looked like a bitch to do yet you make it look so easy as per usual. To answer your question; fuck yes, no such thing as too many TGH demos that's for certain. I have been enjoying this "quest" so far despite wanting to gouge my eyes out over how hideous the majority of them look like, though the aesthetics are understandable considering the year.

I wasn't aware of this thread. I like to do a lot of speedrunning like this as well; that is, I enjoy looking through the /idgames archives as well as other places for unknown wads to speedrun, often regardless of quality.

My efforts are a bit more sporadic, though, since I don't move along the alphabet and I don't speedrun only Doom 1 wads or only wads that have no speedrunning attention at all, but if I ever go on a random Doom 1 level speedrunning spree, I may contribute some demos to this thread if anyone is interested.

obligatory question: why tinyurl links??

The links are copy-and-pasted from the demo TXT files for convenience. The links in the TXT files are kept as short as possible so that no line exceeds 72 chars (72 chars is a legacy from the DOS days, to anticipate next obligatory question), otherwise they wrap around.
This was not an issue with the old "/idgames/index.php?id=<integer>" URL scheme; however, some time within the past year or so the /idgames admins in their infinite wisdom changed the scheme to "/idgames/index.php?file=</idgames directory tree>" which broke the 72-char limit in my TXT files - and incidentally the ability to browse the /idgames entries incrementally (or decrementally) with URL Flipper in Firefox. TinyURL links solve the former problem.
Ha. Those were the first demos I posted in more than a year, and these are the obligatory questions I'm getting? I don't know whether to laugh or to cry.

You must mean INVADE1, #2 got covered by vdgg already. I'll have a look at it, in the meantime if you like busy maps with lots of shotgun action (which INV1 seems to be) you can check out the following item from my backlog:

shotfun.wad by Michael "Optimus" Kargas - UV Max in 24:11
In terms of design it cannot compete with INVADE1 but it does have 4X the monster count. ;)

It's good to see you back in action, Selyodka. I knew you had a backlog of your own and just waiting to get motivated to start posting it. ;)
Incidentally, a year and a half before you did the DAVEx WADs from dmd123.zip I FDA'd that set. The demos are rather lame but if anyone is curious I could post them to the FDA thread.

Please do. The more the merrier. ;)

4shockblast said:

Seems like myk's solution works. Easiest way to test is to use the decorations conveniently placed right at the edge to test it. Straferunning against them and running off the platform with the boost does not generate the bug in Doom v1.9.

Proof demo

I'm not sure this demo proves anything. Neither I nor LMPC see the speed boost you mention, the max you get is a bunch of GF50 SR40 tics.

Here's a quick unproof demo - same route, running off into the abyss in the same spot, albeit with str-50 rather than normal strafe in your run and not using the alleged decoration boost. Crashes vanilla with a R_MapPlane error, Choco bombs out with a R_DrawColumn. Recorded with prB+ as a vanilla demo would end before the crash. For anyone wishing to investigate: the crash occurs at tic #242 (6.91 sec into the demo). It could be that myk and I are both wrong and running has actually no effect on triggering the crash.

edit: BTW, the whole APOCALYP.WAD E1M9 discussion (starting with myk's post) might merit a split and/or a move to the Source Ports forum. Would be nice to get some input on the issue from fraggle, e6y, Quasar, RjY and their debuggers. :)

Good luck to all of you trying to kill 200 imps with the shotgun, avoid crushers and get decent infights in the computer core in INVADE1... Oh yes, there is a berserk pack hidden somewhere deep in the ducts, it may help you a bit...

I'll keep working on it as I really want to get a max done for it but I am working on Blackwell's maps at the moment and Mayan Temple.

@Never Again, cheers, I'll download and check out that demo later when I get home from work, about half an hour of this bollocks left and the constant stare from bottles of Frosty is making me thirsty, heh.

Well I see this thread has been resurrected, and I haven't been active on Youtube for close to nine months, so it's time for another demo dump!

TAAW-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on Things Aren't Always What They Seem (TAAWTS.WAD) by Keith Sebesta - UV Max Movie on E2M1 - E2M2 in 19:51 (YT)
Large, unfriendly pair of levels, though the second level has some nice looking outsized areas.

TALN-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TALLON.WAD by Ken Sumner in 3:55 (YT)
One of the better wads to show up in a WADPAK collection, this has a decent medieval theme and good gameplay.

TARG-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TARGET.WAD by Tony Priest in 1:47 (YT)
Generic 1994 badness. The gimmick is that the map from above looks like a certain corporate logo.

TBSE-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TECHBASE.WAD by Brandon Reinhart in 3:21 (YT)
Yet another level based on MINE1.WAD. I remember Eric and Serge put together an exhaustive list of about a dozen wads that used this as a starting point, it's in one of Eric's demos. Buggy and lacking in ammo, so there's some Spiderdemon freezing action.

TCNO-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TECHNO.WAD (included in the RICKDOOM collection) by Rick Kelly in 3:16 (YT)
Rough around the edges, but fun to play, and there's a genuine design sense in the layout.

TNOIDRYB.ZIP - UV Max on TECHNOID.WAD by Rick Kelly in 3:16 (YT)
Updated version of the above level, which both improves it and makes it worse.

TTMP-RYB.ZIP - UV Max & NM Speed on TechTemple (TECHTEMP.WAD) by Artemis Entreri (YT)

  • TTMP-230.LMP - UV Max on E2M1 in 2:30
  • TTMPn056.LMP - NM Speed on E2M1 in 0:56
Random and flat and far too empty. But there's a few fun fights in there.

TEDD-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TEDDY.WAD (included in zipfile) by Unknown in 10:03 (YT)
The buggiest level I've ever played. See walls that refuse to join, one inch high sargeants, backwards teleporters, magic disappearing walls, roll up, roll up. The Youtube video has annotations of all the various oddities.

TUPD-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TEETHUPD.WAD (included in zipfile) by Mark Sloan in 5:28 (YT)
A very well constructed puzzle level that's no fun to play.

TEK-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TEK.WAD by Neil Fusillo in 1:23 (YT)
Crappy short level that amazingly made it into a WADPAK collection. Standards were lower then.

TELE-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TELEPORT.WAD (included in zipfile) by Unknown in 3:45 (YT)
A PC Zone Wad design contest entrant, a fairly rare level that's a fun easy challenge.

TEMP-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on The Big Temple (TEMPLE.WAD) by Thierry Vermat in 5:23 (YT)
Unremarkable green marble level with flat lighting. Has multiple sections that look better in the automap than from the player's viewpoint.

TM11-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TEMPLE11.WAD by Mark Mackey in 4:33 (YT)
Very professionally done for April 1994. Inspired by id gameplay without aping their levels, and a good challenge for the unwary player. Worth a look.

T2KL-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on Test 2 Kill (TEST2KIL.WAD) by Matthew G. Hooper in 7:12 (YT)
A sprawling collection of setpieces, with lots of new graphics and some puzzle elements.

THKP-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on THE-KEEP.WAD by Norman Scott in 1:15 (YT)
Classic early castle wad, which has been revised and repackaged in compilations over and over. I believe this is the earliest incarnation.

TMZ-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on THE-MAZE.WAD (included in zipfile) by Unknown in 14:14 (YT)
I believe this wad has now been outlawed by the Geneva Convention. Or if it hasn't, it should be.

THND-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on THEEND.WAD by Kevin Haley in 9:44 (YT)
Nice challenging boss level, built for co-op play but possible on single player with a bit of strategy.

TNST-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on The Nest (Rocket Jones Vol. I) (THENEST.WAD) by Joe Cates in 2:34 (YT)
Fun Episode 2 themed level, although it's a little stingy on the ammo.

TPIT-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on THEPITS.WAD by Alex Siegel in 4:25 (YT)
Lots of violent close quarter combat in this one, unfortunately it's fairly bland to look at.

TGRD-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on THE_GRID.WAD by Dave Owens in 3:22 (YT)
Deathmatch open-air grid layout with some monsters added to make it a single player challenge. Not ugly to look at, and it's fun to run around in killing things although there's no challenge.

THIS-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on This Stinks (THIS.WAD) by Mark Marusak in 1:18 (YT)
Truth in advertising.

TH11-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on THINK11.WAD by Denis Auroux in 0:46 (YT)
More of an editor learning exercise than a finished level. Has my luckiest exit ever, with a twin caco telefrag.

TH12-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on THINK12.WAD by Denis Auroux in 1:43 (YT)
Shows no improvement from THINK11. Level is four times as large as it needs to be for the opposition, and the final trap makes it a pain to get 100% kills.

TIBT-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TIBET.WAD by Keith Sheehan in 5:57 (YT)
Good Episode 2 level, with a large layout that takes time to learn and feels like a real location.

TIG1-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TIGER_L1.WAD (included in zipfile) by Unknown in 5:48 (YT)
Pretty good for an uncredited, fairly rare level. Well balanced gameplay and interesting environments.

TI2D-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TIME2DIE.WAD (included in zipfile) by Unknown in 2:48 (YT)
Short, action-packed level, far more violent than the 1994 norm. I can't believe this one isn't on idgames.

TMP-RYB.ZIP - UV Max & NM 100% Secrets on TMP.WAD by Unknown (YT)
  • TMP-726.LMP - UV Max on E1M1 in 7:26
  • TMPns724.LMP - NM 100% Secrets on E1M1 in 7:24
Winner of the PC Zone Wad design contest, and a worthy one. Features far more intricate design and lighting than the 1994 standard. Theme is consistent, the gameplay varied, and the geography links together in a logical fashion.

TNC2-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TNCROSS2.WAD by Valis in 0:48 (YT)
Early combination deathmatch/single player level, slightly larger than its WADPAK1A incarnation but no better for it.

TNPL-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on There's No Place Like Home (TNPLHOME.WAD) by Steven L. Bareman in 1:17 (YT)
Okay house level. Gameplay isn't great, but it's nice to look at.

TON2-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TONE2.WAD (included in the ACE_DWF collection) by Unknown in 4:10 (YT)
Finalist in the PC Zone Wad design contest. Too many clashing themes, and a couple of the rooms are much too large.

TNY3-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TONY3.WAD by Unknown in 4:57 (YT)
Quirky, ugly level. This does not respect any rules of what constitues good design. Which is what makes it interesting.

THRD-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TOOHARD.WAD (fixed version included in zipfile) by Rick Kelly in 1:43 (YT)
Too hard for my grandmother, maybe. Not sure why Rick made such a large maze when 90% of it is entirely empty.

TORCHRYB.ZIP - UV Max & NM Speed for TORCHED.WAD (fixed version included in zipfile) by Joe Lawrence
  • TCH1-107.LMP - UV Max on E1M1 in 1:07 (YT)
  • TCH2-347.LMP - UV Max on E1M2 in 3:47 (YT)
  • TCH3-608.LMP - UV Max on E1M3 in 6:08 (YT)
  • TCH4-536.LMP - UV Max on E1M4 in 5:36 (YT)
  • TCH5-700.LMP - UV Max on E1M5 in 7:00 (YT)

  • TCH7-404.LMP - UV Max on E1M7 in 4:04 (YT)
  • TCH9-633.LMP - UV Max on E1M9 in 6:33 (YT)
  • TCH1n054.LMP - NM Speed on E1M1 in 0:54
  • TCH2n324.LMP - NM Speed on E1M2 in 3:24
  • TCH3n425.LMP - NM Speed on E1M3 in 4:25
  • TCH4n235.LMP - NM Speed on E1M4 in 2:35
  • TCH5n310.LMP - NM Speed on E1M5 in 3:10
  • TCH6n135.LMP - NM Speed on E1M6 in 1:35
  • TCH7n134.LMP - NM Speed on E1M7 in 1:34
  • TCH9n005.LMP - NM Speed on E1M9 in 0:05
Halfway decent episode replacement that could have been memorable if Joe had managed to finish it and he hadn't been crippled by a shockingly buggy Doom editor. Has many good qualities and is a bit of a hidden treasure.

TOUGHRYB.ZIP - UV Max on TOUGHGUY.WAD by Rick Farmer in 1:22 (YT)
Small, violent but unchallenging level. Features a crude simulation of 3D room-over-room using teleporters and some custom graphics, which might be a first for Doom given this is June 1994.

TOW2-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on TOWER2.WAD by Chris Kendall in 5:09 (YT)
Garish, fun monster blaster level with huge arenas and far too much ammo.

TRNG-RYB.ZIP - UV Max on Space Marine Training Facility (TRAINING.WAD) by Jon Oden in 1:48 (YT)
A short deathmatch conversion. Made it into a WADPAK collection, but it's barely a level.

TRE1-RYB.ZIP - UV Max & NM 100% Secrets on TREE1.WAD by Greg A. Lewis (YT)
  • TRE1-318.LMP - UV Max on E1M1 in 3:18
  • TRE1n243.LMP - NM Speed on E1M1 in 2:43
Basic but classic level I was happy to revisit. Author is the guy who wrote Dehacked.

TRE2-RYB.ZIP - UV Max & NM 100% Secrets on TREE2.WAD by Greg A. Lewis (YT)
  • TRE2-355.LMP - UV Max on E1M1 in 3:55
  • TRE2n354.LMP - NM Speed on E1M1 in 3:54
Much better technically than TREE1, although I'm not a fan of tight geography so it's not quite as fun.

More catching up...

Seems like myk's solution works. Easiest way to test is to use the decorations conveniently placed right at the edge to test it. Straferunning against them and running off the platform with the boost does not generate the bug in Doom v1.9.[/b]

Proof demo

I think I agree with Never_Again, I don't see that this proves anything. Making it down to the bottom of the pit was fairly easy for me in Ultimate Doom 1.9, I usually did it in a flying jump like in your demo. The real tricky part is finding a way to start climbing the eternal staircase without the game crashing, and that's what Never_Again solved.

Yeah, XDRE2 doesn't show a speed boost. I tried the start more, and my best guess at this point would be that the crash depends on a number of factors. I think that speed, direction, and vertical location probably have something to do with it. It seems more likely to happen if I'm looking left, right, or backwards than otherwise. I also managed to get a different kind of crash; if I'm facing backwards as I'm falling, the entire system can crash (in my case, it caused DOSBox to exit). It would probably be better to have someone with more source code knowledge to look into this, though.

I didn't go through the rest of the map, so I don't know anything about crashes there.

Good luck to all of you trying to kill 200 imps with the shotgun, avoid crushers and get decent infights in the computer core in INVADE1...

As the Russian saying goes, "fear has huge eyes". ;)

INVADE1.WAD by Andy Chen & Claude Martins:
- UV Max in in 14:49
- UV Speed in 3:56

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to revisit this classic, Springy.

@Ryback: holy shit! your backlog makes mine look paltry in comparison. Thank you, Chris, for the demos and especially for your detailed TXT files that make even the most inconsequential WAD worth a look.

SUNG-RYB.ZIP[/b] - UV Max on (SunGod v1.0) (SUNGOD.WAD) by D.R. Duncan in 11:35 (YT)
Large, trippy, atmospheric. Nice music too.

Shows 100% kills is possible. I used Ryback's demo, with -recordfromto -skipsec 690 I "joined" his demo, returned to the missing monster and got to the exit. Watch with -skipsec 690 parameter.

SUDT-RYB.ZIP - Demos for Slaughter Until Death (SUDTIC.WAD) by The Innocent Crew <snip>
The first The Innocent Crew (MM, MM2, Requiem) release, an Episode 2 replacement. Criminally underrecorded on.

Well, not really, not after your UV Max pak, Chris; but I bet you didn't expect that your demos would inspire this:

SUDTiC - a NM Speed demopak

  map | kills | secrets | time | exit#
 -------------------------------------------------------------
  E2M1 "Flying Guts" | 65 | 60 | 1:36 | 8th
  E2M2 "Mysterious Halls" | 40 | 0 | 1:46 | 5th
  E2M3 "The Blazed" | 61 | 45 | 3:48 | 4th
  E2M4 "Death Pain" | 62 | 42 | 1:47 | 3rd
  E2M5 "Mutilated Corpses" | 19 | 33 | 0:48 | 3rd
  E2M9 "Arena of Punishment" | 44 | 20 | 3:08 | 3rd

Here's another single-demo release, but it's for a reason: not only have we gone right back to crap, but it's frustrating crap to speedrun, too. It also has the distinction of failing to correctly place bull demons in narrow corridors, and nobody involved with its development noticing this before it was uploaded. Beware!

Well, that was unexpected! Three hours after I posted mine, too! Because of how rarely that happens to me in this thread, I decided to take the time out to improve my demo. Here is the result, which took quite the effort to do! Funny that an awful, maze-like 1994 level would prompt this sort of thing, but oh well!

And on top of all that, j4rio provided no commentary whatsoever, so unless he speaks up, we won't know exactly what made him decide to improve a max demo on a horrible, maze-like 1994 level.

I got a 1994 fever. :)
