Orcs Must Die! Unchained Announced

Robot Entertainment has announced Orcs Must Die: Unchained, the next entry in its tower defense/third-person action game series.

Orcs Must Die! Unchained is the third game in the Orcs Must Die! series, and the first to feature team multiplayer and go free-to-play. In the game, two teams of five players battle head-to-head to attack and defend ancient strongholds.

The game is set years after the events of Orcs Must Die! 2, where the game’s new enemy, the Unchained, is not the mindless horde defeated twice before, but instead an organized army led by powerful heroes that players can choose to play as.

A release date for the game has not been set, but players interested in trying the game early (or even right now) can consider buying one of the game’s Founder’s Packs, which includes early access to the game’s alpha and beta, Steam codes for Orcs Must Die! and Orcs Must Die! 2 and other perks.

The game is accepting beta applications over at its official website.

So... keep the same engine, assets and gameplay, and throw in PvP to cash in on the MOBA craze.

I actually like OMD 2, it's a fun tower defense game in short bursts; but damn, this franchise is soulless.

Middle-earth themed games suck.

I don't get all the craze for this theme with all these medival games. It's just stupid imaginary going remade every game, gosh, get creative people!

And that is derived from Hovertank. You can go back even further, like MIDI Maze, or maybe even 3D Monster Maze (despite that one being purely about evasion than any offensive maneuvers).
