Doom Movie Trailer Mock Up (2014 - Unofficial)

Recommended Posts

This is something I worked on over the last couple days. This is a visual mock up of what a new Doom feature could look and feel like if handled properly.

Based upon the novella "Knee Deep in the Dead" by Mike Macdee. http://deadendsolutions.wordpress.com/2011/10/17/161/

The plot of the film follows the events of the first episode of the original game in a rough sense. Most of the action taking place on Phobos, with ever growing and creeping hints of Hell, all leading up to an intense final act.

If all goes according to plan this will come together as an animated film.

In any event I hope everyone here enjoys this little trailer. :)

So like, cartoon Doom?

Why does this make me think of Heavy Metal?

I have always wanted a Doom anime. It would be the perfect style and medium for the Doom atmosphere if you ask me. I really don't know why nobody has done one yet. Surely it would be cash in the bag...

@ the OP: I like it. It's got a great vibe and is edited pretty well. Certainly better than anything I could make!

PS: Has anyone watched the Lego Doom vids? I really liked them but no one seems to talk about them...

Well, saying "yes" to that is a bit too simplistic. Mostly because something about the word cartoon leaves an unintended stigma over it that I don't like. Animated for adult audience.

Hell, if I had any kind of budget i'd love to try and do it live action, but i'd need at least a few loose million to be able to attempt something like that on an independent level. Space suits, monsters, locations. It all costs money. :D

Some examples. I was experimenting with this couple days ago. The original stills are from some 40 minutes of animation I created wayyy back in 2004/2005. Not representative of any final designs or anything, but just trying to get a lighting style down.

You can see what remains of the animated footage from those days here(I still have all of the materials, it's just unedited.):

When you say "Doom anime" do you mean literally in the style of Japanese animation or do you mean that in the more general sense of an animated Doom series/film? I think either could work, there's plenty of material to play with.

Thanks!

Yeah, I don't know why those didn't get more attention. Maybe because the creator didn't really spread the word enough about them? I enjoyed the first few parts, but I think the later bits (until the very ending) were a little rushed through.

Because there would be to much "Imp encounters".
