odysseyofnoises Posted May 17, 2014 I'm trying to change the blues in my colormap to match the ones in another wad, but when I try to edit the RGB values and stuff in XWE, the change doesn't stick. so how can I do it? can slade do it? 0 Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted May 17, 2014 The COLORMAP lump isn't a true-color graphic. It only determines how the 256 colors defined in PLAYPAL are used for brightness fades. To change the actual RGB values of a color range, you can edit the PLAYPAL lump using Slade or another utility, or just open it up as a raw image in Photoshop. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted May 17, 2014 COLORMAP is necessarily indexed, you cannot change its RGB values directly, it has to stay in the game palette. SLADE 3 can generate a COLORMAP from a palette using the same algorithm id software used; or you can convert a 256x34 image into a COLORMAP (by converting it to the "raw/flat" format). 0 Share this post Link to post
odysseyofnoises Posted May 17, 2014 Oh shoot! I meant the PLAYPAL lump. that's what I was trying to edit. I know that the colormap is generated based off of that, I just said the wrong thing. I cannot brain today. 0 Share this post Link to post
vtm Posted May 18, 2014 Most image editors can be used to modify the palette, you will need to save it as PLAYPAL.pal and then load it into your wad. Another way to go is making a 16*16 image and put in this image all the colors you want for the palette then use the dum palette program from Spidey's doomcrap :http://baghead.drdteam.org/tools.xml to create a palette from the image. 0 Share this post Link to post
