Wads similar to doom?

So I mean WADs that have a minor story and have maps that resemble the setting of the wad(For example a mixture of technology and organic technology when the Deimos base got over run) all in the spirit of the original Doom.

Also, there's E1 MAP01 by Nick Baker, it's not exactly what you asked for but the concept is interesting and very well done, in my opinion.

Wonderful Doom is basically the original game all over again (more so than DTWiD is), so that's probably the ultimate answer to your question.

EDIT: Found it! I think this Aliens PC may have changed since the version I played, but the levels follow the progression you're asking for and the game play is very classic.

Hell's Assault might be one? it's a megawad with organic flesh and technology.

@All: I think he's looking for PWADs that have a mix of hellish textures and base textures. Mostly organic hellish textures.

A pwad means "Playable Wide Angle Data" or something Like that.

WAD stands for "Where's All the Data" and the P means "Patch".

likewise, IWAD is "Internal WAD"

Oh... I thought WAD meant Wide Angle Data or even Who Ate the Data?
