Siren Posted August 21, 2014 http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?file=levels/doom/megawads/nmdu.zip I love 'replacement' wads that echo the design of the original levels. Are there any others like NMD for both I & II? Or don't, man. You don't have to listen to me. I'm not your dad. 0 Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted August 21, 2014 I like NMDU a lot as well. Here are some megawads that "echo the design of the original levels" in their ways: Doom The Way id Did (Doom 1) Doom 2 The Way id Did (Doom 2) Wonderful Doom (Doom 1) Switcheroom (Doom 1) 0 Share this post Link to post
Obsidian Posted August 21, 2014 Flashback to Hell by Vordakk has remakes of the first 11 or so maps of Doom II, although the ones after that are a bit more original. There's also TNT: Renascence if you're a TNT: Evilution fan. 0 Share this post Link to post
Siren Posted August 21, 2014 Thanks for the recommendations. I actually just played through Flashback to Hell, it's pretty fantastic. Another good one is Remain http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?file=levels/doom2/p-r/remain1.zip First 11 maps of Doom II reimagined. I like these waaay better than the vanilla maps to be honest. Too bad Deadall never did the rest of them. 0 Share this post Link to post
Springy Posted August 21, 2014 I could have sworn that there was a Remain 2 and 3 by the same author (Eternal). TNT Ren is by the same author too and I found all the mentioned ones to be enjoyable. 0 Share this post Link to post
Xaser Posted August 21, 2014 na na na na na na end1.wad, na na na, na As a double-plug No End in Sight is a collab between myself n' NaturalTvventy (of end1.wad fame :P ) that's meant to scratch the retro itch. It'd be triple-nice if it was finished... D: 0 Share this post Link to post

I checked on idgames but no luck. plums Posted August 22, 2014 A similar thread was started not too long ago that might have some more suggestions: http://www.doomworld.com/vb/wads-mods/69292-any-wads-similar-to-doom-the-way-id-did/ 0 Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted September 6, 2014 Nobody in this thread (or the other thread) mentioned Favillesco series. In my opinion, Favillesco E1 specifically is great, the only problem with its maps is that they're often similar to each other. E2 tends to have unintuitive layouts in later maps, but it's a good E2 emulation too. E4 looks and feels sweetly old-school, it's well structured though. Favillesco - Episode 1: Genuflected on Io Favillesco - Episode 2: Tragedy over Europa Favillesco Alpha Episode: Apostasy on Amalthea 0 Share this post Link to post
Devalaous Posted September 6, 2014 Im amazed Plutonia never got a megawad dedicated to rearranging it like Wonderful Doom, given the constant love for it 0 Share this post Link to post
