Doom groups in Facebook

Recommended Posts

No thanks.

How much of Facebook is a walled garden? Most links I follow there go straight to a login page.

Hard to care when DoomWorld is the most active Doom community.

It's funny, people were "social networking" over Doomworld before "social networking" was called "social networking".

TBQH I'm surprised that this whole Facebook thing has still any momentum left. It's waaaaay past the novelty stage, and by now it's clear it's not a boon, nor a drop-in replacement for regular websites, specialist forums, etc.

C'mon everyone, stop being so negative. So what if someone asks about Facebook groups dedicated to Doom? It's not as if you're being forced to join them.

As for your requests, HextheRex, I have a Facebook group centered around Doom that I can tell you of in a personal message if you so wish.

Cheers!

What's with all these defensive NO replies? Are you ashamed that your real friends will see you talk about Doom? Anyway that's a big reason I am not a member of the Doomworld facebook group. Too many Internet pokemons there. To the outside world it feels like we're kids playing with cubes, I think.

I think it's more to do with "web 2.0 is evil and scary" than anything else.

I mean, I get it. I didn't get on Facebook until a few years ago. But the way people are acting just reeks of neo-Luddism.

That being said I took a look at the Doomworld fb group. I hate just about everyone there after reading through some of their comments. So... No.

QFT. Facebook and Twitter have been dead since 2009. The fact they're still stagnating on shows that there is no new innovation rising to take its place.

As far as Facebook groups go... they're okay. A lot of idiocy to sift through before you ever get to any decent content. Nowever, I think accessibility shouldn't be frowned upon.

I've been sitting here for 5 minutes trying to think of a witty reply. I can't. All I can think of is "wat."

A new user with no posts is asking us to join their Facebook group. This reaction seems about par for the course.

I don't remember the last time I saw a thread with so many people agreeing about something. And they're right. Bad idea.
