oblivion Posted June 20, 2002 I am curious if anyone here knows how to make a horizontally sliding door. 0 Share this post Link to post
Tarkus Posted June 20, 2002 No, there is no way to make a sliding door... maybe one of the source ports like zdoom can though, but the map won't work on any other version of doom... 0 Share this post Link to post
mmnpsrsoskl Posted June 20, 2002 There is this, but it is not what you are looking for, and I don't think you can do it under regular Boom... 0 Share this post Link to post

Searcher Posted June 20, 2002 You can make it "look" like a sliding door, they did it in Requiem. Use the tutorial link from mmnpsrsoskl just above and where it shows sector 3, a partly open door, use that sector to show a partly open slider at right angles to the wall for the "second view". Then your door will slide as someone walks through the door. Instead of overlapping the sectors you make the sector just behind (say 4 or 8) the orig. door. Be sure it is close enough that it does not look like it/you moved forward. Works just fine. 0 Share this post Link to post
KDarigal Posted June 21, 2002 EDGE has sliding doors, too, but they're more like how sliding doors would have originally been in Doom (just a single line that has the texture moved over as necessary, gaining/losing the impassable attribute as necessary as well). 0 Share this post Link to post
