Vegeta Posted June 21, 2002 Does someone know what are the system requirments for the DOOM 64 rom? 0 Share this post Link to post
Doom II Guy Posted June 21, 2002 Damn, I thought I downloaded that one. Anyway, I have a lot of roms, but none of them work real great. What emulator do you use? 0 Share this post Link to post
Doom II Guy Posted June 21, 2002 Yeah, you should go out and buy it like I did. I think it's a very good game, but I know a lot of people hate it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Naked Snake Posted June 21, 2002 ROMs are illegal, it is almost like warez, considering the fact that it is still piracy. 0 Share this post Link to post

ROMs are not illegal, but proprietory ones such as doom 64 are (some systems have free fan made games). To be consistent, you should probably call it "ROMz" - the z is usually put on the end to indicate that the material is illegal (warez, romz, mp3z...) 0 Share this post Link to post
Doom II Guy Posted June 21, 2002 It's not illegal if you own the said game though. More or less as a "back-up" copy. 0 Share this post Link to post

I always see on the sites "delete after 24 hours if you don't own the game" or something like that. Either way, no one can really be stopped from downloading them. 0 Share this post Link to post
Katarhyne Posted June 21, 2002 No, it's not. I have a rather large library of legal roms - roms for which I own the original game. It's just like a computer software license. 0 Share this post Link to post
Naked Snake Posted June 21, 2002 Hmm, well that clears things up. /me shrugs 0 Share this post Link to post
pritch Posted June 21, 2002 I thought you were normally allowed to make one back-up copy provided it stays squarely with you? 0 Share this post Link to post
Doom II Guy Posted June 21, 2002 Heres a question, how do people make roms anyway? How can they possibly be made EXACTLY the same as the original game? 0 Share this post Link to post
Naked Snake Posted June 21, 2002 Doom II Guy said:Heres a question, how do people make roms anyway? How can they possibly be made EXACTLY the same as the original game? Copying tools. Dunno where you get them, probably from the company that makes the system. 0 Share this post Link to post

Why would the company release something that would prohibit them from selling games (and systems), and virtually give them away for free?! 0 Share this post Link to post

For people to make backup copies and for gaming companies to make games to put ON the blank *whatever*, say cartridge or disc. 0 Share this post Link to post
Doom II Guy Posted June 21, 2002 Alright, I see. I don't think they should be given to the general public though. 0 Share this post Link to post
Amaster Posted June 21, 2002 There are many game copying tools for every system made by various companies. They are rare in the US because it's kind of taboo. But you could probably order one online. 0 Share this post Link to post
Doom II Guy Posted June 21, 2002 Yeah but, why go through the trouble when other people do it for you. Heh 0 Share this post Link to post
Amaster Posted June 21, 2002 Well, just in case someone hasnt made a copy of what you need. Also, to make yourself feel like a big man. 0 Share this post Link to post

Duker900 Posted June 21, 2002 http://duker900.netfirms.com/READ.png that should pretty much clear this up. 0 Share this post Link to post
IMJack Posted June 21, 2002 Alright, new topic. I've got a Playstation 1 emulator on my comp, but I'm buying the games for it legit. Cool/not cool? 0 Share this post Link to post

Da_Esco² Posted June 21, 2002 http://duker900.netfirms.com/READ.png And THIS ladies and gentleman is what peeps in da ghetto like to call............. BULLSHIT! International copyright laws DO in fact give consumer's the right to make backup copies of their software OF ANY KIND.... includin video game cartridges which ARE considered software. I don't remember there being ANY CLAUSE in this law that states dat Nintendo is an exception. They have been tryin to pull dis kind of bullshit on software purchasers for years and emulation specialists, and their court cases have almost all flopped..... Nintendo sure da fuck has gone down hill in the last 5 fuckin years! 0 Share this post Link to post

læmænt Posted June 21, 2002 What's a TV? Is it one of those things they used to have before computers? 0 Share this post Link to post
