Cacowards 2014 nomination thread

Nominating mouldy for mapper of the year. Certainly enough contributions to various community projects and also the fantastic Going Down.

If it isn't too late I'd nominate Going Down

tourniquet for most promising newcomer.

He only has 2 maps on ID Games map 20 from Mayhem2048 and E3M4 from Switcheroom. He does have 4 completed maps waiting for their projects to be finished, 2 of which are in Switcheroom 2 and 2 are for Nova 2.

From what I've seen and played these are the PWADs I've most been impressed with this year:

+1, his stuff impressed me even more than stuff of the guys I named 2 pages back. If I realized that tourniquet was actually a newcomer, I'd have already nominated him too.

Doomkid found some of the best maps from 1994-1998 that were either forgotten about, or never received the recognition they deserved.

^ I don't think a compilation of unchanged maps by random authors from the 90's is a valid Cacoward 2014 candidate.

Honestly there's too many wads I liked this year to name them all, but these ones come to mind instantly so I guess that speaks well on their behalf!

Mayan Mishap is purdy and difficult, IS GUD.

All the good stuff I've seen has already been mentioned, but just to add a couple more nominations for Bauhaus and Bloody Steel, very stylish wads with fun gameplay.

I'm way late to the party, but here's a +1 for Flashback to Hell and the criminally underrated Apostasy on Amalthea. I'd also like to nominate Bedlam -- just a spectacular E3 replacement.

I hope the actual Cacowards will be radically different. And not just because I disagree about a lot of these, but mainly because it would be boring if Cacowards were so predictable.

I'm not sure what you're expecting. Here's my prediction: we'll see Cacowards for Going Down, BTSXE2, Adventures of Square, Resurgence, Flashback to Hell, and some other stuff.

Do you have any recommendations for wads that have been missed? Of course you're going to be disappointed if you're just here to turn your nose up at the entirety of a list comprising every wad that anyone at all has nominated all year.

They're actually 5 (me, Magnusblitz, Captain Ventris, purist, Doomkid). It seems that I've nominated it twice, once at the year's beginning, and once when I was summing up the whole year in November. :)
