Guest Unregistered account Posted November 24, 2014 After all this time, I only just realised that some of Epic 2's resources are from the Build engine game Exhumed; after watching this video. X/ 0 Share this post Link to post
june gloom Posted November 24, 2014 Jaxxoon R said:Anyways, I once had a dream I was playing some JRPG for some reason, and was at some part where there was a shub-niggurath type of thing to fight. One of the guys did a summoner and John Romero showed up driving a spaceship while dressed as Captain Quark and he shot lasers at it and it died. Then he and the real Captain Quark started dancing and Quark said: "Let the spaghettification begin!" And then they ate spaghetti. Man, I wish I could dream in Tom Hall. 0 Share this post Link to post
Jaxxoon R Posted November 25, 2014 I searched "moe Doomguy" in Google for possible inspiration to base a boss off of, to go with a level I'm working on in preparation for the as-of-yet-unannounced WOOO 3. To my utter shock and amazement I found nothing. Just normal official art of Doomguy, and maybe a few goofy-looking fan works. But no uguu shit. Not one. 0 Share this post Link to post
joe-ilya Posted December 7, 2014 I dislike doom64 and psxdoom. Atmospheric ; yes but man it's boring. 0 Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted December 7, 2014 I haven't even played D64 and PSX Doom for more than a few minutes each. I had both their TCs on my computer, but deleted them, didn't consider them that worth. 0 Share this post Link to post
Salt-Man Z Posted December 7, 2014 I've been playing Doom for over 20 years, and have never played it multiplayer. (Closest I ever got was watching my little brother DM with the neighbor kid back in the 90s.) 0 Share this post Link to post
mrthejoshmon Posted December 7, 2014 I need to play more multiplayer. I am surprisingly good at it (not good enough to beat Doomkid, not by a long shot, but good enough to win a few games). 0 Share this post Link to post

Kotzugi Posted December 8, 2014 Also never played multiplayer online. Latency is too high over here in South Africa. Works for MMORPGs though. 0 Share this post Link to post
Super Flip Posted December 8, 2014 I actually really don't like TNT much in comparison to Plutonia. A lot of the maps seem to present trial-and-error in rather obnoxious, chaingunner infested ways. That and the maps themselves aren't aesthetically pleasing. 0 Share this post Link to post
dg93 Posted December 8, 2014 I think Doom 64 is a pile of crap. Dark levels, ugly textures, and lame looking sprites.... I also don't get why people call the Playstation version of Doom PSX Doom. 0 Share this post Link to post

Well there was a console called PSX http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PSX_%28video_game_console%29 But it's pretty much is a fancy looking playstation 1 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Unregistered account Posted December 8, 2014 I actually think Doom 64 is awesome. Completely redone-from-scratch resources, gloomy atmosphere (YES I KNOW YOU'VE HEARD THAT ONE A MILLIOM TIMES) and its levels are just as inventive as the originals'. PSX Doom, I thought, is OK. It's pretty good but I don't get why they had to remove whole parts of levels when it's the PlayStation, it still uses sprites and low-res textures (although with awesome lighting) and the original games could run on DOS. :/ I guess my knowledge of storage space really is very extremely reliable. 0 Share this post Link to post

Doom64 had one of the best puzzles and maps - very talented people. Unfortunately they hardly used the puzzle goods in the later maps. 0 Share this post Link to post
june gloom Posted December 8, 2014 PSX has long been a shorthand for the original Playstation -- probably dating back to early advertising that referred to the system as such. There was actually some confusion when they launched the "PSX" because people had been referring to the original Playstation as that for some time. (Bit like the Xbox1/Xbox One fiasco.) Part of the problem with PSX Doom is that its stripped-down maps are ported from the Jaguar version. If you notice, the Episode 4/Doom 2 maps (not seen in Jaguar Doom) weren't as severely altered -- but the bigger maps are gone outright. 0 Share this post Link to post
FireFish Posted December 9, 2014 A crazy deshelved man walks into the doom confessional booth ; DooM with reversed letter order is MooD, i have not felt the MooD to DooM for 3 months in a row now... But i think i will relapse from the moment i install chocolate doom, prboom, and zdoom again... And i confess that i was staring at romero his picture for a few minutes... seems he has animal like magnetism or something, even for males. 0 Share this post Link to post

You know me, I'm literally always keen for a DM.. (Oh and of course you need to make some more maps for us to frag on, dude. Your DMR map is great for duels.) 0 Share this post Link to post
Scypek2 Posted December 12, 2014 I just cannot understand the point of exits on DM maps. What's the point? For some awkward kind of self-enforced time/frag limit? Or...? I have no idea. 0 Share this post Link to post
SuperflyJohnson Posted December 13, 2014 Holy longass thread Doomman. I confess that I have yet to complete a single Master Level for Doom 2, or Plutonia. I also played this deathmatch map which has gay porn plastered on the walls, making it literally a gayWAD. To my great shame and regret I never did call the number and play with them. 0 Share this post Link to post
The_MártonJános Posted December 13, 2014 Back then I spent hours trying to discover how to enter this amazing water room in E2M5. And I was more than depressed when I found out there's no f*ing way. :( 0 Share this post Link to post
Sqrrt121 Posted December 14, 2014 I have not played Doom online in over a year and have lost contact with most of my buddies and I do not play Doom regurlaly anymore. 0 Share this post Link to post
CyberDemonEmpress Posted December 14, 2014 I can't play on any difficulty higher than "Hurt me plenty." 0 Share this post Link to post
Devalaous Posted December 14, 2014 I think there are several mappers here who play like that actually, I know at least one was vocal about being a HNTRer I worked my way up to Ultra-Violence level over time and a LOT of practice on the PS1 version.. 0 Share this post Link to post
CyberDemonEmpress Posted December 14, 2014 Hmm, oddly I have been playing PSX Doom TC on ultra violence a bit. And I do think I am slowly getting better as a result. 0 Share this post Link to post
Devalaous Posted December 14, 2014 Yeah, the PSX version has lower monster counts and slower monsters, even on UV. As such my evolution went PSX Doom ITYTD to UV -> PSX Final Doom UV - > PC Doom1,2,TNT,Plutonia UV. I still die easily in pretty much any wad, but knowing enemy attack patterns, how to circle strafe etc, eventually becomes instinct. I'll never beat nightmare though, it changes the rules too much. 0 Share this post Link to post
june gloom Posted December 14, 2014 I don't take seriously anyone who brags about being a Nightmare player. Either they're full of shit, or they're the kind of person who thinks being particularly skilled at a game equates to being worthy of respect as a human being as opposed to actually being a good person. I just play UV. I stay away from slaughtermaps so it's not really a problem for me. 0 Share this post Link to post
Super Flip Posted December 18, 2014 Despite my constant playthroughs of the game, I can't remember many secrets (if at all) in Doom past Toxin Refinery. 0 Share this post Link to post
