Orchid87 Posted January 15, 2015 No muzzleflashes. You know, when you're shooting a weapon in vanilla Doom 3 the walls and other surroundings are illuminated by gunfire. What the hell they were thinking omitting this from BFG edition? When I fire the chaingun in a pitch dark room, only the weapon itself gets illuminated in D3BFG! That's much much worse that the infamous flashlight shadows and even those were patched in the end. Doom 3 was all about dynamic lights and shadows. BFG edition is a joke. 0 Share this post Link to post
Shaviro Posted January 15, 2015 I never noticed that. Or cared, to be honest :) The reason why the BFG edition didn't sit right with me was that I had forgotten just how crappy the weapons are and how unsatisfying the combat is. Add that on top of a mission set that looked like it never got to the polishing phases and you have a pretty lackluster moneygrab of a release. 0 Share this post Link to post
Reisal Posted January 19, 2015 Why is sucks to me: 1) Obvious cash grab of older games bundled into an unmoddable (RAGE) engine. 2) Nazi levels censorship in Doom 2. 3) Changing the health pack crosses. Hello Red Cross? I'm pretty sure medical personnel used the red cross on items way before your time! 0 Share this post Link to post

RUSH Posted January 19, 2015 You forgot MANY more reasons. Here's an updated list of problems I've posted a few times before: - No muzzle flashes - Way too much ammo (the original had plenty, yet they add even more) - Increased brightness. Despite this, they still add a shoulder mounted flashlight - Dead bodies clip through one another instead of piling - Horribly long load times for consoles - Automatic checkpoint save system that freezes gameplay, kills tension, and cannot be turned off - No support for original Doom 3 mods - All three campaigns share the same limited save slot section, so pick your saves wisely - You can no longer play RoE arcade machines - Unnecessary motion blur (thankfully can be turned off) - Changes to Sergeant Kelly's face (Umm, why?) - Changes to Counselor Swann's sunglasses, making him look like an old hippy - Tons of added gameplay and graphical glitches - Censored medikits and Wolfenstein levels for included Doom and Doom 2 - Unnecessary pitch change for sound effects in Doom/Doom2 - Nightmare mode reduction (nerf) for Doom/Doom 2 0 Share this post Link to post
