How does file updates work on /Idgames?

Recommended Posts

Hi, here again with one of these no surprise.

I accidentally uploaded a borked version of a mod to /idgames but Ty thankfully hasn't added it yet. The faq guide thing doesn't go into detail about it, and I had a few questions. When I upload the working version:

Do I use the same filename or a different one?

Do I use the .txt file to tell what's going down or do I include that in an Email or both?

Do I have to wait till the file is up or can it be snatcher'd while still in holding?

Thanks to anyone willing to tolerate my bumbling around with this.

I usually just reupload a copy of like modname.fixed.zip and modname.fixed.txt explaining so Ty knows it's messed up and to replace the one uploaded previously. That's what I did earlier tonight.

README.INCOMING:

----------
ASSISTANCE
----------

1. If you need to send me a message, upload another file with the
extension .msg to explain the problem, or email me at
thldrmn@gamers.org (start the subject with DOOM-FTP: or it'll
probably get nuked as spam) (no, really, automatically even)

2. If your upload craps out, feel free to keep trying under slightly
different names and put a .msg file up to tell me what to do
with it. I'll be glad to rename files and delete upload droppings.
I would say that you could reupload the file under a slightly different file name and put a .msg file where you explain what to replace, or maybe write it downright to the text field for the archive maintainer in the txt file.

Worked for me last time I had uploading issues.
