I make a lot of tiny dumb tools for doom, thought I'd make a thread to post them in.

mapinfo-gen.exe
Easily generate simple ZMAPINFO, EMAPINFO and DEHACKED lumps in one go!
Currently supports Map name, author, music, sky, title graphic, nextmap and par time.

wad.js, a javascript doom wad library
I couldn't find any wad reading library for javascript so I wrote one. Currently does all the essentials, along with a nice feature or two like rendering maps using the vanilla colorschemes (reading from the palette, too!). Keep in mind this is mainly just the library, the actual usable frontend is an example/testing framework for it. Hopefully someone can use this to make a Real Cool Web Wad Editor.

doom texture randomizer
Randomizes all the textures in maps. download it and drop a .wad on the .exe and it'll make a wad called output.wad in the folder of the original wad. play that wad.

Map theme generator
I know one already exists but I wanted to write one myself. Generates map themes.
There are some options for extra gunk, and if you make a map with a theme from here, let me know and I'll put it on the list.

Awesome. Some genuinely cool ideas came out of this, but what I'm really loving is all oddly specific random place names. The next map I make is going to be set in 'HyperZimbabwe'.


Theme: "A Dystopian Dungeon below Dark Canada"

I wonder what would come of merging 1 and 2. i.e. have a semantic field tied to each texture, then when the generator blurts out a map name it also gives you texture suggestions.

phml: that'd be a lot of work but sounds pretty interesting. I might do something along these lines.... watch this space....

What happened to that old generator anyway? It had stuff like "You must fight big UAC computer with lots of imps, then fight lots of evil UAC computer".

Don't know if it's like in Blood, but there's EPIC.WAD MAP04.

You might want to remove transparent textures from the textures to choose.

Stuff like this is tedious work since it's not trivial to do it automatically, so unfortunately will probably not make it in. Maybe in the future but no promises.

A lot of these sound like new-age album names.

There seems to be heavy bias toward Egypt and Poland in the locale names. Does the author have a particular attachment to these two? :)
