"Doom System Startup 1.9 Special Edition"

Recommended Posts

What is this about? I was searching through the doom-maps.zip file and I found in the directory "DoomMapsSE" a doom executable. So, I got my Doom.wad in another directory, put both the Doom.exe from DoomMapsSE and the doom.wad into a directory, and it worked!

Screenie:
NOTE:This is a spoiler of you have not downloaded doom-maps.zip from here

An early version of Ultimate Doom, nothing really surprising here. Its name lived on as the default install location for Ultimate Doom:

Thanks for letting me know, but this is a great find.

I just made a TCRF prototype article about this engine

Some interesting question, which would be nice to be answered there too:

Has it the new Lost Soul behavior or still the old one?

Is it still UACDEAD compatible, or did they restrict the boss special already, eventhough E4M6 is not yet supported?

Thanks Randy, I remembered reading your post but I overlooked it when I was looking for it earlier. Do you want me to source your findings on the article?

LogicDeLuxe, I was thinking the same thing. Do you happen to know of a demo that is guaranteed to desync with the differing Lost Soul behavior?

It's probably a safe to assume that the boss behavior in E1M8 is the same as pre-Ultimate versions, but I'll test it out when I have some time, if no one else does first.

Just did a test, uses the old non-bouncy behavior.
