What the hell is it supposed to be? Demonic metaphysical energy-shifty stuff?

I think it's growling.

EDIT: Whenever I hear the sound while playing, I always consider it growling. But it doesn't sound exactly like growling when I concentrate to listen to the sound now, out of the game.

It's a soft roar, obviously.

Sounds like dry gurgling. What's DSDGACT then? Skrunching, growling and drooling at the same time?

It has a sort of metallicy tubular sound, like its a roar in the distance but you're hearing it through an airvent

It's always been growling to me.
