Alright, my piece-of-shit brand new computer didn't come with a virus checker. Which one should I use? Is this one http://nct.symantecstore.com/0001/ any good?

Yes, but you'll need to tweak the settings to get some decent performance.

I alterante between Sophos and Norton SystemWorks 2002, both of them do what they say pretty efficiently. Try asking around if you can borrow a copy..

Btw, has anyone came across the HappyTime.a virus?

McAfee's pretty good, as long as you keep updating the virus lists.
