Arioch Posted January 2, 2002 Ralphis has released a deathmatch map by the name of UDM1 over on the UniDoom page. There is now currently a ZDaemon server running the WAD, courtesy of Lyfe. 0 Share this post Link to post

Ralphis Posted January 2, 2002 w00t. People like my wad. It gives me a special feeling inside. 0 Share this post Link to post
Erik Posted January 3, 2002 This wad is very nice overall. A few dull levels, but mostly a great mix between fraggy, action packed maps and more tactical ones. 0 Share this post Link to post
SaGa Posted January 3, 2002 Ralphis are you shure it is coze of the popularity of the wad, or just coze you happend to be watching porn at the time? 0 Share this post Link to post
fyrestorm Posted January 3, 2002 map10 has a rip of knort map02! I WANT MY DAMN CREDIT!! 0 Share this post Link to post
Erik Posted January 3, 2002 Btw, a map is never really good for ffa if there's a bfg in it (unless it requires you to make huge sacrifices in health and time to get it). I always slaughter everyone in ffa using a very lame technique which I call grab-bfg-waste-all-ammo-then-suicide-style Should be an option somewhere in zdaemon to disable bfg in 4 player or larger games. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest deathwarrior Posted January 3, 2002 ralphs maps are superior in texturing (map01, map07, map08), while mine are superior in layout (map02, map05, map15, map16). i dislike map09 because i don't find it as interesting as the rest of the maps, and map14 is little hard to get around, but it's still a great idea. 0 Share this post Link to post
Erik Posted January 3, 2002 I like map07 best for 3-4 player games, real good action! 0 Share this post Link to post
fyrestorm Posted January 3, 2002 using the BFG is a skill. there are players who know how to avoid it, and kill someone when they are firing it. read the bfg faq 0 Share this post Link to post
Erik Posted January 3, 2002 Yes of course but in a ffa there are players with varying skill most of the time (Also, a skilled player also gets in trouble vs bfg spamming when he has 5+ other players to keep track of, especially if the bfg is fired silently in another room and the spray is used to blast some key area). Spamming it will cause your frags to raise to 50 very quickly as the less skilled players die. Sure the good players don't get hit a lot and they may kill you pretty quickly. But firing off the 200 cells in a strategic position takes only a few seconds and often yields 2-10 frags depending on the number of "bad" players in the game. After you fired off all cells, just charge with ssg or run for a cell refill (plasma rifle). Of course it's the same for everyone in the game, so it doesn't upset the balance between players, just makes the game pretty repetetive as you pretty much must do this to win. In a 1 vs 1 game or in a moderate size (not 6+ players in a small map) ffa with only skilled players, the bfg is balanced and only useful in special situations. 0 Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted January 3, 2002 I noticed you tried to get around the Darkening E2 texture restrictions by using only my textures. Nice try, but I'm afraid the vast majority of them are based on Ola's textures, so you really shouldn't be using them. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ralphis Posted January 3, 2002 We're just using all the skulltag textures which we were given permission by Carnevil back last year. We wern't aware of who made the textures. 0 Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted January 3, 2002 Yes, you're right, they're in Skulltag too. * NiGHTMARE spanks Carnevil 0 Share this post Link to post
Ralphis Posted January 4, 2002 It's cool to see you aren't giving us a bunch of shit about it :) I appriciate it 0 Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted January 4, 2002 Well, it's Ola who cares about it, I personally don't mind at all. 0 Share this post Link to post
