Modem lag troubles...

Anyone have tips on how to reduce lag when playing a modem to modem game of Doom?

If you're dialing up the other person directly, than not much. If you're playing them over the internet... dial them up directly :P

Hmm perhaps some modem init strings could help, or maybe trying different times of the day to reduce phone line traffic.

This is modem and not net play right?

I have never had any lag at all playing doom over the modem in all my experiance since doom came out. If its really horadle lag like 3 fps then you might have some imcompatablility.
CHANGEING MODEM SPEED WILL NOT HELP!!! KEEP IT AT 9600!!!

Ummm, I doubt modem lag would have anything to do with your frame rate. The PING however, that's another thing.. Wow, DOOM at 3fps?? Unbelieveable.

turn off error correction turn off compression and turn on hardware flow control
