I have a 12 track mix CD (made it for when I'm playing Quake II). I have an 18 track mixed CD that plays well in DooM I guess.

Industrial's pretty safe with Doom, but I think different types of levels need slightly different tracks.

For E1 style for instance, look no further than 2002ado for perfect music judgement.

i think a band like static-x would go extremely well with doom3. they have that goth/techno sound with heavy guitars, which matches the mood of doom3 from what we have seen of it.

Industrial and general metal, for heaviness, beat and atmosphere, like these...

Rammstein - Du Hast, Tier...
NIN - Virtually anything...
KMFDM - Ultra - Anyone got that on midi?
Marilyn Manson - Cryptorchid, Sweet Dreams, Coma White...
Pantera - Just like the original Doom...
Slayer - See above...

Do you see?

Metal for me, too.

Some Ministry, Judas Priest (the riffage from Painkiller is one of those potential victims of the E1M1 plagiarism, actually...the "guitar riffage" at the intro is roughly the same. meh), Testament, Annihilator (Denied is a fucking AWESOME song for dooming), Halford when I'm in the mood to sift through that homo-rants (he does whine about his gayness on Resurrection, which makes me absolutely sick...thankfully his latest release was not like that at all), Rammstein, and when I'm feeling in a "good" mood, sometimes Motorhead. Also, White ZOmbie and the last two Alice Coopers are pretty decent for Dooming.

100% Hardcore beat box Britney Spears remixes.

You're hereby banned from thinking Lord Flathead :p

If you really want the music to get you into the atmosphere of Doom, try some of the PSX Doom .mp3s over at Elbryan's site. Or, if you just want to be running around blasting stuff and not caring about the ambience, try some heayv metal/rock music.

I usually just listen to the normal Doom music, and when I get to map E2M3 or E2M4, whichever one that has the intermission music, I just change it to something better.
