Windeu 5.99...

Has anyone tried the new beta version of WinDeu? I had a look, ut I couldn't get to grips with the new way that it looks and works. (I use v5.23) The only thing I liked was the addition of the undo function.

I use version 5.24, it has the Undo function.

What I like so far:

1. You can see the textures without having to click on the name.
2. The Object menu that can Insert Crates, Stairs, etc...
3. I like the Align Texture option better now
4. I like the Check menu better now. You can Check All also.


What I don't like so far:

1. The Start up menu is strange. I have to search for the Iwad
and open it, then search for the Pwad and open it.
2. The grid is Purple and then turns blue when you zoom in.
3. You can't edit a sector or linedef in one edit box. There
are tabs now for Flags, Textures and whatever.
4. It gives me an error about not being able to open Hexen. I
don't even own Hexen.


But so far the layout seems little changed, maybe 5.23 is allot
differant from 5.24

Yeah, that sounds like the layout from 5.23. It's really quite annoying, but it has some good bits.
Being able to see the textures without clicking on them is a great idea, but it crops them all to 64 by 128 so you miss bits off the longer ones.
Where did you get V5.24? I would like to give that a go and see how much different it is. 5.99 keeps screwing up as it is only a beta. (for v6.0 i suppose)

I got it off this site, but I guess it is replaced with 5.99 now.
