ReX Posted January 3, 2001 I got this new computer with Windows 2000. I re-installed WinTex v4.3 and put VBRUN300.DLL in the WINNT\System folder (and I even put it into the WINNT folder). When I try to run WinTex I get the following Application Error: WINTEX caused a General Protection Fault in Module USER.EXE at 0001:6797. Choose Close. WINTEX will close I realize that VBRUN300.DLL was first developed for Win 3.1, and that using it with Win2000 may cause problems. Any work-arounds for this problem? 0 Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted January 3, 2001 VBRUN300.DLL a Visual Basic file, right? So maybe there's a newer version of it in the latest Visual Basic. Hopefully someone can send it to you... 0 Share this post Link to post
TheProphet Posted January 3, 2001 To get the new version: - go to http://www.microsoft.com - Click "Downloads" - Fill in the fields: Product Name: "Visual Basic 3.0" Operating System: "Windows NT ..." Show Me: "All, by date" (so the newest version is displayed first) - Choose "Visual Basic Standard and Professional 3.0 Run-Time .dll (VB3Run.exe)" (242 kb) - NOT the one for "Visual Basic for Applications"! 0 Share this post Link to post
ReX Posted January 4, 2001 Still no luck with WinTex. I downloaded the VBRUN300.DLL files from both the Win2000 and WinNT sections of the Microsoft website, copied them into my System folder, and I continue to get the error message. Thanks for your help, just the same. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Fanatic Posted January 5, 2001 Might check your Wintex.ini, and rename it. Could be something in there causing it (like sound card or MIDI assignment). 0 Share this post Link to post
ReX Posted January 5, 2001 I looked in my WinTex.ini and didn't see anything out of the ordinary (although I'm no expert). The problem occurs even when I do a fresh install of WinTex, so I'm not sure that the .ini file has anything to do with it. Damn! I may have to partition my HD so that I can run Win95 on it, just so that I can use WinTex. Lately it has become one of my favorite DooM-related programs. I am also trying to learn more about the graphics editing capability of DeePSea. 0 Share this post Link to post
Wildman Posted January 6, 2001 DeepSea supports unlimited wad manipulation in the shareware version. The only limit is in map making. I would switch over to that and dump Wintex if it isn't working. There is a bit of a learning curve but I have a tutorial on the basic use of adding texture s to a wad on the ZDoom Tech page. (I didn't realize I had so many tutorials. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
