Must... program... need... info...!

Recommended Posts

Hello all. Will try to keep this short.
(will not succeed)
I started a project of a whole episode
for DooM 1 when DooM 2 was not even
thought of yet.
I completed it back in 1996 already.
(9 missions [different skill-levels],
mission-map & some menugraphics replaced)
The levels are cool and all (at least
*I* think so :) - but it's DooM 1...

My Thoughts:
- It would look better in 800x600
- need more, different textures...

My Problem:
was using DEU 5.2 GCC (Go32) before
(yes, DOS-Based) plus the BSP 1.2
for Nodes. Old Stuff.

My Quest(ion):
Please reccomend:
- Editor to use that is at least as powerful
and reliable as DEU 5.2 GCC (and BSP 1.2)
- What DooM-version to use... I'm tempted
to convert it all to DooM 2 or such.
Please apply:
- For reviewing / Level-Testing... they
are all ready and well playable.

Thanks folks!

CEOofAEP i can't really said what is better but for making Dooms wads, I use Wad Author 1.30 and Wintex 4.3

I never have big problem/error with Wad Author for making level. I maded some personal Doom, Doom2 level. And now i'm making a ZDoom level and it work fine.

For Texturing, i use Wintex 4.3 and is was great. No error with it too.

And for a better launcher, I'm using ZDoom. But i can't give you an order to use it. Just try ZDoom, Doom Legacy, Edge. Because these 3 are the best one and the most used on the Doom community.

And for reviewing / Level-Testing i think Deep97 or Deepsea can do that !

lol, just about any editor you care to name is more powerful than DEU :) However, if you want something similar, try WinDEU, DETH or Deepsea (you have to register for the later), as they were both heavily influenced by DEU.

Most (all?) Doom level editors are in the Doomworld "utilities" section, which you can get to through the sidebar on the main doomworld page.

Nah, don't bother. There's plenty of us still with the original Doom. Besides, we need more Doom 1 levels, there aren't enough :)
