Cyberstorm2 Posted March 20, 2001 I just uploaded my first DOOM map, and I'm looking for constuctive critism so that I can (hopefully) become a better mapper. It's located at members.tripod.com/cyberstorm2 and is really small, but it's playable. Peter Heinemann Posted March 26, 2001 Sorry for the low feedback here (this section of the forums sometimes seems to be a graveyard), but the link to your wad does nor work. 0 Share this post Link to post

DeePsea Posted March 28, 2001 Very good for a 1st map. Here are some ideas: I suggest more shadow simulation and lighting details. You already have some done just right. Design to mimick a "real" area where if a light shines, there are light and dark areas - for example, put a "shadow" in the outside beam overhangs where the beam blocks the sun on the floor. Be fussy when choosing textures that repeat. It's often more interesting to break up a long wall and inject different textures, especially around doorways. Bring back the side of doors that are "flush" with the wall, so it indents a bit - like a real door. Then "decorate" the flange with something cool and bright (or dark) in contrast. Ok - hope that made sense. You do have a good beginning and it can only get better. Btw, that is a perfect size level and layout to pay with. 0 Share this post Link to post

Zigmund Posted March 29, 2001 The link is right but you might be doing what i did at first. On his download page the screen scrolls to the right where the download link is. For some reason i never noticed that the page scrolled to the right and I kept clicking the wrong damn thing...... As for the map i liked what i saw and i wondered what the single player version would of looked like if he had built it. 0 Share this post Link to post
