EDGE and joysticks

How do I enable joystick support in EDGE? I configured the cfg file to turn on the joystick function but I still can't use my gamepads in DooM. I'm stumped!

I don't mean to sound like a jerk but.....maybe this is the perfect opportunity to learn how to use keyboard+mouse. You'll find that after you keep at it and get the hang of it, you'll never want to be hampered by it again. ;)

I'm a joysticker myself and have been since Doom came out. Consequently, I suck in deathmatch in any game but Doom.

I would love to get used to the keyboard, but my wrist and fingers start to hurt after about 5 minutes. Plus, I'm left handed which is not good for keyboarding.

I am also having trouble getting a joystick to work with Edge, in both the dos and win32 versions. The win32 version will run, but it ignores the joystick but the dos version locks during startup at the "startup_joystick" line.
