Cenimatics(COOL! A new topic^_^)

Do you guys think that there should be little movies after you beat a certain amount of levels. Like, you go in a fortress with several other marines, and you split up (Incredibly stupid manuver), and it shows a marine walking through a corridor, sweatin' like a pig and breathing hard, all of the sudden a few demons come out. He fires over and over, then he runs for it when his ammo runs out, then he runs right into a shotgun pumping zombie and gets his head blown off. How about that for a unhappy ending? All in smooth, gut wrenching 3D.

Well if your talking about cinematics as for a movie like in quake 2 or 3... well doom 3 will probably just use scripted stuff since the gfxs kick ass..

Would probably be a waste of time and energy mate. Just like this reply.

No it won´t. iD always hire an external company to make the cinematics...

The cinematics are not a new topic. It has been discussed a while ago (since the beggining of the Doom 3 forum actually).
It seems that most of the people here want to see cinematics made with the engine itself. And I guess it won't be hard to do cinematics, as the image quality that you can see on the Doom 3 video looks like a cinematic images, only 100 times better.

I have a feeling they can do all the cinematics they need in-game. The engine already looks more powerful than most cinematic sequence renderers do anyways ;)

Well, if they´re doing cutscenes, they should better do them with the engine. However, things like the intro, the outro and perhaps between chapters there should be cinematics.

Even the most kickass cutscenes doesn´t match the drama that prerendered cinematics can. It´s actually harder to make all that scripting for the characters, the camera movements, the audio tuning, the extra animations. All these are more easier to do on 3D packages, and looks better than cutscenes...

Even DooM3, with it´s mighty engine can´t compare to the things people do today on programs like Maya and MAX. Besides, special long cutscenes would take time from id hands, while cinema´s done by the company/ies that made the Q2 and Q3 intro (wich, BTW rock). Finally, who want´s to wait long load times just to watch 1 minute or so? Video formats stream in real-time...

Ok people, im back but not for long, so here my shit:

1. Cin. parts should be placed and settled for different endings and level parts.
*Minding that in game will be non-trivial level construction (that i exect so much so you will play again and again...)

2. Cin. parts might starts "like from game" - you step in level and it starts... (FF8 effect...)

thats all folks...
