Todd Hollenshead interview

The multiplayer will be a simple, but fun, deathmatch-style game.

I like that one.

I like the 'scariest game' remark :) I can't wait.

Ferrago: Finally, any word on the games possible release date?

TH: We hope to be able to have the game done sometime next year.

:( that sucks, we'll have to wait longer. Then again, the longer we wait the more stuff they can add! :)

Birdman IS the Hellknight..

I found the part interesting, where he explains that the whole game will be basicly one gigantic level.
Although I hope we will see Hell as a seperate place, and not just the UAC base before and after the invasion.

It would be nice if they revived some of the good old hell textures. I could imagine the snake textures would be good, too.

All of this has been said before. Including that Drooly is supposed to be the Hell Knight, not the birdman.

And it would be cool if the level designers will come up with really crazy ideas for hell, something we´ve never seen before.

I think you're wrong. I think Todd was referring to the Legacy video, NOT the ILLEGAL LEAKED video. That's why I'm guessing he meant Birdman. He looks a lot more like a Hellknight too IMHO, so that makes sense to me..

Todd was talking about the E3 presentation, and the content of the leaked video IS what they presented on the E3, not the Legacy video...

We already knew drooly was the hell knight BEFORE this interview.

I still don't believe that Drooly is the new Hellknight cause the Birdman simply looks a thousand times more like a HK to me. That's just my opinion though. Do with it whatever you want..

It's a fact you'll have to live with, Bobby.

It's not like I don't like it if it really was the new HellKnight.
It looks cool and you most certainly will shit your paints if he comes across. But the birdman looks way more like the original HellKnight, and that's why I believe that this is miscommunication.

Believe me, Drooly it's the Hell Knight. An id employee pointed this out before the interview back in E3 when they asked him what was the creature that killed the player at the end of the presentation.

Meh, they look so much different from the original monsters I don't really care much what they're called.

That's all well and good, but I can't wait to see the goat-headed monsters - assuming they will still appear.

The "Birdman" looks like the HK you say? How?
So it has horns, but every other feature is totally different from the old one. Birdman's horns point backward instead of forward (like the old HK's horns did), Birdman has glowing yellow eyes that remind me more of the old imp than anything else, birdman doesn't look like a goat, birdman has a few thorns - the old HK didn't have these. And might I finally add: The birdman seems far too small - looks like it's a little taller than the imp but not by much.

Now, the new HK, has a torso that seems very similar to the old HK, it hasn't got any eyes which to my eyes is more true to the original (which only had a pair of holes as eyes) and it's LARGE enough to be the HK.

And yes, Todd is definitely talking about the E3 presentation as he mentions the pistol, shotgun and the machine gun - the pistol was in the Legacy movie, but where the Hell were the shotgun and machine gun in that movie?

The Legacy video has one sequence with the pistol being shown for one second, while the machine gun and the shotgun are only present in the leaked video and nowhere else.

Yeah, it was TIm Willits, mentioned at a conference at E3, he was asked what the monsters where in the video and he replied:

"Imp, Pinky, Zobies and the Hellknight, who incidentally was the guy that eats the hero at the end"

(not exact words mind you (typing from memory)) but that's what he said. Todd is definately referring to the E3 Video in that interview.

i've been out for some time, so explane to me: who is birdman? is it official name of the creature? or its just 'so called at DW forum'?
the part of video ive seen shows HK: he has horns thats for sure...

about interview:

simple deathmatch-whats that? ill be killed in secs like in CS, or Flashpoint? or it will be like in Quake series - jumping/ fragging/
spreydeath style? He sad nothing about that...
