Internet released maps that ended up in commercial compilations

Recommended Posts

I noticed that some maps was released on the Internet and then later got included in Commercial compilations, maybe a bit modified. I have a few examples:

Doom II MAP01 -> Punisher.wad -> Plutonia MAP32
Butcher.wad -> Plutonia MAP09
Memento Mori MAP24 -> Plutonia MAP24
Almost all of The Lost Episodes of Doom
Sewers and Betray

I Believe those are the cases I've found. Anyone got any more examples?

TNT Evilution Map 17 is in Maximum Doom, I don't remember what it is called there, but it's pretty obvious that Tom Mustaine released it for free before including it into Evilution.

joe-ilya: If it's the case that TNT was released on the Internet Before being included in Final Doom, I haven't Heard of it Before.

Memfis: Yeah, after closer inspection I agree.

Jaws in Space: Interesting, I'll have to look into it.

Kontra Kommando: As I said to joe-ilya, the same is true here.

What they did with that #1dwango map before it was put into TNT - It woulda been nice if they'd had time to do that with Sandy's Doom2 maps. No drastic layout changes or anything, the map still has the same soul and flow so to speak, but the texture choices are far more cohesive in the TNT edition.

Interesting finds, I'd love to play early "pre-final doom" releases of some more TNT and Plutonia maps!
