What are your pet peeves?

Recommended Posts

Post one or more of your pet peeves. Can be anything from traffic problems to world problems.

I'll start...I hate when I regularly browse someone's blog (or other public social media page) and they suddenly freak out and think that I'm a "stalker" because they can see viewership stats. That happened to me recently.

Oh shit, that's how that works? I wonder how many people secretly think I'm a stalker and haven't spoken up...

Anyway, a huge pet peeve of mine is close mindedness. It bugs me when someone doesn't really have a good rationale for refusing to try a new experience that might benefit them. This is particularly annoying with dogmatic types (not just religious), because it might benefit them to look at other perspectives, but they'd never consider doing so.

I don't get road rage, but it really grinds me gears to see people blatantly disobey traffic laws. I flip out if I realize I forget to use a turn signal, but you see these crass folks ignoring their damn blinker like it went out of style. Shit's dangerous! Similarly, it's super annoying when you see those kids that cross the street really slowly, knowing you'll probably hit them unless you slow down just a bit, all the while giving you that "Go eat shit and die" look on their faces.

- Those who whine about their position in life or be generally discontent while they are financially stable, have loving family, good friends, a steady job and can even afford to buy themselves nice things once in a while. They really really bother me.

- People who are dishonest, attention seeking, small man syndrome, highly self conscious or tend to lie often for little reason.

- Emotionally driven, unjustified negative judgement upon any persons or things / situations. This can include from road rage to hating a particular individual, race or religion.

- Those who blame religion directly for wars and manipulation when clearly it's the people of influence abusing something that can be spiritual and promote great values. and of course those very people who exploit and abuse religion.

- When people back the fuck up and don't look where they're going. I had somebody back into my car recently in a parking lot. That wasn't any god damned fun.

- What GoatLord said about turn signals. Even when some people do use them, it's a bit late since they turn it on while turning. wtf?

- Some dorkmuncher passes in their car and then turns into a driveway.

- It grits my tits when some food item changes ingredients and it no longer tastes the same or they make them smaller now or there's less in the damned package.

- Digipaks. I hate those cardboard jewel case wannabe pieces of shit. I hate when discs are jammed in between shitty cardboard.

- I hate when that circular tab, knob thing in DVD / CD cases that holds the disc is broken.

- When I go on Facebork and somebody sent me game joining requests for some shitty game I never wanted to know existed in the first place.

I'm guilty of that, because it was fun in some ways :p, now i wouldn't do it.

-When you ask a friend to keep your food safe while you go do something but you come back and the food is not there anymore...

-When a large group of people walk side-by-side on the street or sidewalk, blocking everyone behind them.

-People who never shut up about political issues.

-When people talk to you when you're listening to music.

-People who make funny voices when they speak to children and animals.

Loud and obnoxious people waiting in a long line with you.

People who blast their music on their phone/ipod/car stereo as if everyone wants to hear your shitty music. Without fail it's usually pop or shitty bro rock.

Obnoxious tweakers and bums that always ask you for money, and get mad when you say no.

Religious types that try to convert every chance they get.

People I don't even really know acting upset or offended over what I do with my body, or what entertainment I chose to spend my time with. People that look to be offended in general are fucking obnoxious.

Over the top gay pride. Gay people that base their entire personality around the fact they're gay, and straight people who support to the point of unpleasant. I'm bi-sexual in a same sex relationship and this kind of thing always makes me cringe. I just want to be treated like a human being. Not an animal and not a special snowflake with special privileges, just because I happen to like cock.

This next one might be a bit bigger than a pet peeve but...

People who stigmatize my BF because he has mental disorders. Please don't tell people suffering from serious personality/mental disorders they should be locked away, or even worse, euthanized. It really shows how immature and ignorant some people are, no matter their age. My mother also suffers a serious mental disorder and one time during a breakdown as they put her in the ambulance I heard one of the police officers poking fun at her. I hope one day he realizes how much of an asshole he is.

-Sterile metalheads/popheads who can't stand any music outside of their comfortable genre. There's a metalhead in school who puts loud screamo metal music, but when he hears a different genre; say punk rock, he starts insulting and getting pissed and yells to shut it off because it's punk.

-Those who listen to fake/pop rock such as Justin Bieber (seriously?) and Nickelback. And can't stand older music because it's old.

-People who laugh at every joke that they tell. (my dad for instance, he giggles so much that I laugh at the fact instead of the joke)

-Those who compare social medias.

-People who show you disgusting porn out of nowhere.

-Those who sing and keep it up even when told otherwise.

-People who throw rocks at you because they're bored.

-Those who blame everyone but themselves.

-Most USA president candidates.

- Not getting a job I'm more than qualified for. You mean eight months of dishwashing experience isn't enough to give me the dishwashing position nobody else fucking wants?

- Taking the time to try to create an interesting and fun forum thread, only to have the posts consist of "didn't read the fucking OP before posting" and "criticizing you for reminding people to read the fucking OP before posting." May as well lock the thread and give up.

- Dating sites in general.

Can't i just simply enjoy my game in peace?!
Geez man, some people are really ignorant and annoying to the point that makes me wanna have a gun or somethin' and blast em' away.

A few more:
-People thinking i'm Homosexual(nothing against them) just because 90% of my friends are female.
-People that think i'm Emo because i listen to metal (since when is Power, Melodeath and Melodic Rock "Emo"?).
-People that can't sit upright.
-People with no educated manners.
-People that think i'm Hispanic because of my accent.

Ok most of that is just straight personal issues but i guess it could count :P.

- People that show up and start having a big conversation while your trying to watch a movie.

- I really don't care for acronyms much unless they're common ones like NASA or something. I don't know how many times I was reading someones text or post and couldn't figure out the damned acronym.

Some good ones, people! Here's another:

When people tell me "that's life" or some variant thereof in response to a problem I've been having, especially seeing as I rarely mention any of my problems unless asked. I mean, no shit, Sherlock -- "it" is life by virtue of the fact that it happened. It's "life" if I shoot you in the face -- doesn't mean that it's right, or that you should just accept it as inevitable like some prison bitch with Stockholm Syndrome. But then again, a lot of the people who say "that's life" in that context are worn down wage slaves in a life crisis who are so conditioned to banal and demoralizing bullshit that they've come to think it's right, and they probably want you to be as miserable as they are. :3

Yeah, it was on Tumblr. I didn't even know you could see viewership stats on there until one blogger who I regularly visited made a post calling me out. Worse yet, I think some of the bloggers I was visiting knew each other, so word might've gotten around. Now I'm a bit wary of browsing anyone's anything.

When you ask for advice or a strategy for a video game, and the bulk of the responses boil down to "Git Gud"

I dunno what change in some 20-30 years, but apparently every fucking skill in a game is a fucking trade secret or some shit.

- When somebody refuses to listen to any new music because they think it's all worse than older music. A sub-group of these people are those who discount all electronic music because "it's just somebody pressing play on a laptop."
- Video games that implement difficulty by requiring the player to memorize what is going to happen next. NES games are particularly guilty of this.
- People that talk about "geek culture" like it's some monolithic thing. Actually, the phrase "_____ culture" in general pisses me off because it's often used as a thought-terminating cliché.

Going to stop there since I have anger issues and could probably fill a book with this stuff.

Hair... and the only hair worth having seems to be getting thin.

Waking up to the sound of neighbour peeing, singing, banging stuff with a hammer, whacking a mat in the mat whacking balcony, talk, talk in the phone, yell, play music, their clock clicking in the middle of the night, them walking around. People have been killed for less...

Fat guy with a big bag of food begging for more food. I don't have sausages for you!

All national traditionals, stupid sayings, memes, the new social media, advertisements, closed mindedness, fanaticism.

- Facebook game requests. No. Fuck off.

- Shit drivers

- In addition to the above and speaking as an occasional truck driver, people who pull dangerous shit when they see a truck coming because they don't want to be stuck behind me. Like trying to squeeze past me on a roundabout when there's clearly no room and forcing me to stop so they don't get hit.

- People who fish for attention on facebook with vague posts and get all pissy when you don't tell them what they want to hear. I'm sure we've all got at least one of 'those' friends.

- People who put milk in first when making tea.

- Office politics.

- New year resolutions. The reason I get crowded out of the gym for a whole month each year.

- As someone who lives in a communal block, people who steal. Particularly food, especially when it's labelled. And my underwear. Seriously? Go buy your own. Makes me wish I had some transmissible disease. :p

- People who rant and rave and whinge and whine about something, be it work, people, etc, but do fuck all about it.

- People (Seeing a pattern here I think) who make excuses for themselves when they're the only one to blame.

- Running commentaries on every. Little. Thing while I'm watching a film.

- People who have little-to-nothing in way of manners.

- People who talk to me while I've got my headphones in and act all pissy when I ask them to repeat themselves.

- Again with the communal living situation. People who are up playing music/doing other annoying shit up until 3am or worse when they know others have to be up at 5 to go to work.

- People who try to start fights because they think they've got something to prove, whatever it may be. I had my lip split open by someone at work back in may because of this. Thankfully a good headbutt and punch broke his nose and left him passed out on the floor. Fucking idiot.

- Ads that play before videos on youtube.

- Trailers and other crap that I can't skip when I'm trying to watch a film.

- People who constantly use the word 'epic' to describe anything and everything.

- People who drive shitty, loud cars like they're in fast and furious or something.

- Brown-nosing.

- When someone gets all huffy when you critique something of theirs and try to genuinely help them. I once made someone on another forum go "I'm leaving and never coming back! Waaah!" just for giving suggestions on how to improve upon something.

Annnnnd breathe!

Inconsiderate assholes. People who congregate and talk in shop doorways and don't move even when people are clearly and obviously struggling to get around. Be considerate or just off yourself, far as I'm concerned. If everyone is considerate life becomes easier for us all.

Edit: Screw it, I'll add more!

People who play the victim. People who constantly cry foul over minor things. People who think any race is superior to any other. Loud construction that starts at 7 AM. The fact that modern society is completely built upon an inherently non-renewable system relying entirely on a flawed "always growing" economic approach combined with archaic means of generating power that will likely be our demise, assuming melted ice caps and a lack of fresh water don't get us first. Burning food by forgetting its in the oven. Burning my hand getting said food. People who make long ranting posts.

People who start talking to me when they're doing shit, and then leave the door open, so that when I go closer, so they don't need to yell at me.. I see them doing shit. There's a lock in the door, so use it, and don't talk to me then! People who start talking to me when I'm doing shit. Or those neighbours going to their toilet when I'm doing shit, and then they start talking/yelling from there. Just don't! Though at least the neighbours aren't talking to me there...

People who wear too much parfume, gives me a headache. People who smoke in front of shop doorways, and leave a big cloud of smoke behind. People who park their car, but then leave the engine running and then fill the nearby area with those exhaust fumes. Motorbikes that are excessively loud. Dogs that bark loud suddenly when I walk past them.

People who walk too slow. People who take a bus, train or whatever motor vehicle to go some less than 2km distance. People who ride a bike, but as soon as it's uphill, they walk it.

People who drink too much alcohol. People who grab me (from behind anywhere) or my dance partner on the dance floor. People who crowd me when I'm dancing and then don't leave when it's pretty clear that I'm not interested. People who tell me to go dance elsewhere when I have not even made any sort of moves toward them.. I just happened to dance there because no room elsewhere, so I'll give them the boot and make more room for me!

People who talk too much. People who don't talk enough. People who talk too fast. People who talk too slow. People who talk with incomprehensible accents. People who talk without any accent. People who talk too loud. People who talk too quiet. People without a sense of humor.

People who think they know everything, and think are always right, when really they don't know much at all. Bad design in things and computer programs. Not listening to improvement suggestions. New versions of programs getting worse interfaces etc. It may be a cool idea, but if it just doesn't work.. don't try to push it.

Everything's so wrong! I'm gonna wear a blind fold, ear muffs and a gasmask and hide under the bed. Wake me up when the stars are right...

• I find I have to use a lot of patience with people who have weird little linguistic compulsions. I know a guy who says, "Does it make sense?" at the end of practically every sentence (no matter how clear his words were), and sometimes from being around him I'll start saying it too, all the while mentally facepalming.

• Not a big fan of people who use corny Internet vernacular, either online or in "real" life. I felt old as shiiiiiiit when, at a family gathering, these nine-and-ten-year-old boys were playing a game, giggling and saying, "Epic fail!!!" to each other like it was 1999.

• When people (frequently parents and other authorities) tell you that your thoughts are "not real." This is one of the most ignorant and dismissive statements we make to children, and while I understand that it helps differentiate between the tangible world and the non-corporeal world of thoughts, it 1) Reenforces an unnecessary dualism between mind and matter that has been a philosophical problem for centuries and 2) Implies that only processes which are physically observable by all parties counts as being real.

• People who hatefully denounce capitalism, but refuse to move to a country that is not run by capitalism.

Yes GoatLord, fuck how I hate that! Especially when people are responding with useless shit like "duhh, why do you NEED it fixed?" Or "duhh, mine works fine!" It's like, look numbnuts, I don't care if YOU don't see the point or if YOURS works! I didn't come here for your dumbshit opinion, if your response is not help with the issue at hand, just shut up!

Yep. I wish I was making it up. It could only have happened when I had washing on. So someone went and emptied the machine to put their stuff in and helped themselves to my clothes and worn them. I only found out because I saw them a couple weeks later among a pile of washing that had been left out. They were old anyway, so I took them back and threw them in the bin. Though I joked about how I wish I had something nasty to pass onto such people, given the people in question are proper grots (they've even smeared shit on the walls of the toilets we have to share....) I'd rather not touch anything they've worn, especially given their habits on the weekends. And here I was thinking joining the airforce was a good idea....

Oh oh! I've got a few more to add to my list too!

- Man buns.

- Windows 10 constantly asking to be downloaded and installed on my desktop. Nope.

- Air conditioning being left on on long train journeys.

- Double standards. Two-faced people in general. Like the time I told my dad that the friend I'd introduced him to and who he was too happy to talk to, was both Welsh and bi-sexual. I've never watched someone backpedal so hard on something they make a habit of saying practically every day.
