JXC Posted April 24, 2016 I am interested in making SID, OPL3, and PC Engine music. Because making PC Engine music on DefleMask is quite easy (I assume), I want to get SID and OPL3 out of the way first. Because they both fascinate me, I'm not sure if I want to learn Adlib Tracker II (OPL3) or Goattracker 2/SID Wizard (SID) first. The SID trackers have very confusing interfaces. 0 Share this post Link to post
HavoX Posted April 24, 2016 There's one way to solve that problem... do a coin flip. :P But seriously, it's best to study each one of them before making your decision. 0 Share this post Link to post

I know that SID uses three channels (6 in stereo) with selectable waveforms, adsr envelopes, and ring modulators. OPL3 uses FM synthesis. Like SID, it uses ADSR envelopes, but it can also use macros. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kore Posted April 24, 2016 In that case learn SID, since it sounds simpler. 0 Share this post Link to post
